In Union County, Govener Hughes armed the Democratic clubs with the State Winchesters. On the night before the election (Sunday) they paraded over the country and whiped over twenty colered men, some of them so bably that they had to keep their beds. ticket in the field is only to weaken the chances of the twenty more, and at Eldorado, the county seat, they took the poll-books away from the judges and burned them before the eys of the people and then held a new election, at which no Union Labor man was permitted to vote. In Miller County the Democratic clubs were armed by Governor Hughes with the State arms, and they went to the strong Union Labor precincts and notified them that if they voted the Union Labor ticket they would kill them. In Woodruff County they added over 1,000 votes to the Democratic vote and defrauded us out of the election. In Crittenden County we had over 2,000 majority; this they cut down to less than 250. A delegation of white heelers immediately went to Little Rock and waited on Governor Hughes, giving him the facts, but he refus- most always accompanies children's entertainments thus making it very unpleasant for the audience, was entirely lacking.

Another commendable feature was the fine Piano selections rendered between the scenes by Prof. Schollar. He is certainly a fine pianist. The characters in the cantata were well cast. Prof.

Thomas showed good judgment in the selections he made. Gertrude Rogers, as Grace Prentice, was a success in every particular. Her action was good; her speaking clear and distinct and her singing just splendid. She is certainly a sweet little singer. Claudis McMullen did well and represented Harry Prentice to perfection.

Mamie Haney, as the very practical Hattie, deserves praise for the way she handled her part. For the kind hearted Jennie, people of this county of settling the long perplexing question that has been adjntating the minds of the citizens of this county so long and will until the question is submitted to a vote of the people of this county. Some of the U. L. supporters of this paper may think we are wrong but we cannot see wherein we are wrong as we fail to see 108 West Main 108 West Main St.
