We tried to take particular notice of those things in order to make a fair and impartial report, but the Headlight does not claim infallibility, therefore might be mistaken, though it appears that the people in general think not. As we stated, however, we think that all did exceedingly well and that the medal was justly awarded. This issue completes two volumes of the Headlight.

We are Btill here and notwithstanding that times have been hard during the past two 'years, we look forward to a prosperous future. We have managed to struggle through the hard times and now this paper is firmly established on a solid basis. We heartly thank all our patrons for such support as they have given and earnestly hope for an increase of the came as times cret better. In order to get first-class hay, farmers should not neglect to burn off their hay land this spring. Turon will ho doubt have agents here next fall to Uuy all surplus hay at; paying' prices, and bright clean hay will, of course, sell best.

It will pay you to burn your hay ground; but rirt make your fire guards abundantly secure. The present outlook is that this sec tion of the country will be blessed with bounteous Harvest this season. Remember that J. R. of Turon, are selling more II EADERS than surrounding towns.

Some people seem to think that newspaper advertising will not bring abcut the desired result, because everybody, whose trade is desired are not subscribers to the paper. Kut it should vbe remembered that almost every paper sent out is read by several who are not subscribers. It is estimated that, on an average, at least fWe people read every newspaper published. Besides when there are any bargains to be had, that are made known through the paper, they will be read and commented on and talked about to neighbors who never see thera. There are many good ways to adver tise, but none better than through the colums, of a JpcaJ paper.

Pleasant weather. Lagrippe is raging. The wheat fields look gay. The flowers and birds are coming. Old papers for sale at this office.

Saturday was a busy day in town. Early planted corn is coming up. Master Frank Curtis is quite sick. Our merchants report trade lively. A gentlw soaking rain last Sunday.

Mr. J. P. Green, a Witchita capital ist, was prospecting in and about Turon last week." He has purchased some farm property near Turon and speaks favorably of making this his future home. We are pleased to note Uncle Sam has rewarded another worthy old soldier.

We refer to C. W. Dickhut who was placed on the pension role a the rate of $12 per month, dating from July 1S90. Farmers who are thinking of buying wagons to market the large wheat crop now in sight will bear in mind that the Bain, Mitchell, Fish and other makes of wagons are sold by Van Zandt Sons, at Turon. are requested to anounce tha there will be a special meeting of old soldiers, in Turon, on Saturday Apri 25, to arrange for the big meeting a Hutchinson.

All old soldiers are re quested to attend. Turon lost a small portion of its pop ulation one night last week, by the sudden departare of a small amily. We think, however, that the town people did not shed many tears over the result of their leave-taking. Have jon looked over those cultivators at Van Zaudt Sons, of Turon? Farmers will be well paid by com ing to Turon after their cultivators, even though they live nearer other towns, for they will find 20 styles to select from and prices will be made that can not be equaled.
