Oamoling at air, The fair grounds at Erie this week have been well covered with games of Republican Pledges. The Republican party made some pledges before the election last spring, and one of them was to secure a better system of water works. Instead of do-mcr anything in this matter, the Republican administration of the city is virtnally stumbling blocK. They are not making any effort in this direction whatever, and as a Republican administration we invite the attention of the county to it, as another election is now at hand. She ran the Willard house at Coffey-ville oyer three years and built up an excellent trade.

She went from Coffey-ville to Parsons last spring and took charge of the Tremont house, which has become a popular hotel under her management. She has a son and sister who, with the assistance of Charles Way, formerly clerk of the Caldwell house at Independence, will continue in charge of the Cremont house until her lease expires. Last evening just before the arnyal of the Kansas City train, Marshal Chapman received a telegram from Brie to arrest a man and woman of a certain description. On the arrival ot the train a couple answering the description were arrested.

They were held to' several hours and in the mean time Marshal Chapman endeavored to ascertained what the couple were wanted for, but not being able to get any re-sponce from Erie let the couple go.
