M. Davis yesterday at the close of the trial of Leonard Doane, charged with preventing his wife and children from eating, Friday evening. "I believe a good cure for such men would be a whipping post out here in the bull pen. I believe with a good flogging, they would go home and behave themselves." Mrs.

Doane appeared in police court yesterday with her children, two very pretty little girls, and told her story to Judge J. M. Jordan. She said that her husband had been ill-natured Friday evening and she went out on the porch and refused to sit at the table and listen to his tirade. She took the children with her.

This angered him and he told her if she did not eat with him she should go to bed hungry. After he had completed his meal she took the little girls in and Started to eat. She had just taken out some potatoes on her plate when he rushed up, grabbed the spuds and threw them in her face. Mrs. Doane declared that her husband does not drink, but that he just takes these spells.

Judge Jordan fined the defendant $15 and costs and sentenced him to thirty days on the rock pile. He turned the $19.31 found on Doane when searched at police headquarters, over to his wife for the support of herse'f and children. Patrolman William Owens, who arrested Doane Friday night, says he was called to the Doane home one Sunday evening not long ago to stop a row between the husband and wife. The dectives called in Chinese experts and a thorough examination of the "black book" was made. The Sing case is lost sight of momentarily in the discovery of information about big murder cases that had baffled the police and federal authorities. In addition to the "black book" dozens of letters were found from various agents, enclosing letters from white girls. It is possible, the police believe, that the tongs who control the "tunnel," have acted as American representatives of white slave bands in China, who recently have sent dozens of white women to Chinese port towns. 6. This city is to be the scene of negotiations looking to the end fthe bloody factional war in Mexico, it was definitely learned today. The mission of Manuel Zamacona to this country is bring about an armistice between the contending factions. This definite information was given out by a high official in the state department. Twelve years was the sentence imposed on George O'Brien, confessed bank robber, who was convicted this afternoon of robbing the bank at Mansfield. Mo. O'Brien was arrested in Arkansas. He first confessed and later attempted to prove an alibi, declaring he was in jail at Champaign. 111., the night of the robbery.

The youngsters straggled in one by one and to each one Judge Fulton directed a fatherlv little talk. The The AlaCarte Musical Comedy company will open a four day engagement today at Riverside park.

This aggregation of pretty girls and comedians comes from the interstate circuit and is highly boosted. During the latter part of the week. Thursdav, Friday and Saturday, there will be a vaudeville bill at Riverside. Fulton, Sept. 6 The special grand jury returned indictments aeainst Mrs.

Susan Reiss and Edward Wilson, a negro, charging them with first degree murder. Mrs. Reiss is charged with killing her husband. J. H.
