Owing to our politics and our not being very flush with money, we failed to get the telegraphic news of the October elections as they passed over the wires, but necessity is the mother of invention, and it proved good in our case, we only had to wait a few hours till we could read the result on the countenance of every moBsback and greenbacker in the community as correctly as we could from a bulletin board. On some faces it showed so correc.tly4hat we could make a tolerably correct estimate of the majorities. With this issue of the News I finish my contract as its manager. Just how soon the next number will appear I can't say, but I have the authority to state that it will be on hands soon, probably in time to help spread the results of the presidential election. Now before taking my leave I would return thanks to those who have assisted me in the enterprise, and trust we all may be profited by the same.

To all indebted to the News, I would say that I desire an immediate settlement to enable me to square up the debt incurred by Its publication, and I trust that no one will withhold so small an amount so easily paid, but which, taken together, make quite a sum. W. D. Parker. The Ft.
