CASUAL. Late on Wednesday nipht an east-bound express train on the IndianspolU lad St Lonis railway was thrown from the trick on a bridge 30 feet high at the station of St Mary's. The conductor, George Morris, was killed and several passengers were injured. There is no doubt that the disaster was caused by trainwreckera bent on robbery. One of the rails on the bridge bad been loosened and drawn to one side in the hope that the oars woald be thrown into the chasm.

Similar crimes have been committed in that locality before. As the accounts from the terrible wreck of the steamer City of Vera Cruz come in more fully, they become highly exciting and interesting. A seaman, named Talbot, who swam ashore on the Florida coast, after having been seven hours in the water, has given a brief bnt very graphic account of his experiences, which recalls the most horrible passages of marine novels. No such wreck has occurred on the American oenst since the loss of the Evening Star in I860. A dispatch from St.

tJohns, N. dated the 10th, says: The British steamer Anglia, Capt. Garvie, from Boston, Sept. 2J, for London, fonndcrcd at sea on the 6th. All bands were saved.

Tho vessel and cargo arc a total loss. The cargo consisted of 338 li tc cattle, grain, provisions, the whole valued at 112,000. The cattle were insured in Canada. The Anglia was in collision with the bark Trowgate. The captain and fireman of the tug Jerome, at Grand Haven, went to sleep, the one in the pilot house and the other in the engine room.

After a while the boiler exploded, bnt, although the vosscl was literally demolished, fragments of it being thrown a distance of three hundred feet, and the captain dumped out on the dock all ia a heap, neither of the men received serious injuries. A New York dispatch of the 9th says: A fire in Manhattan market this morning consumed the entire building. Oaly the iron frsme was left. The loss excoeds one million dollars. Tho fire is still burning, but is under control.

Two more survivors of the steamship Vera Cruz have been heard of on the coast of Florida. They came ashore on a raft at a point two hundred miles from the place where the Owen party landed. Rev, Mr. Hodges, of Smithville, N. undertook to sail a yacht in the lake at Sackett'g Harbor, and lost his l.ia ia the attempt.

In jibing the boat the bourn knocked him into the water. The coast of Florida is piled high with wrecks. Some of the ill-fated ve-scls are so tborouehly destroyed that they can not be recognized. The loss of lifo has been vory great. A dispatch from illas, T-'xas, dated the 9th.

A Wise Keforui. The habit of adminiHtcriag quinine in powerful doses, as an antidote to malarial maladies, was once dangerously common. Happily this practice has undergone a wide reform. Not only tho public, but professional men have adopted, not wholly, of course, but largely, llos'ettsr's Stomich Bitters as a safe botanic substitute for the pernicious alkaloid. Tho conacquenoes of this chacgo are most important.

Now fever and ague sufferers are cured formerly thoir complaints were only for tho time relieved, or half cured tho remedy eventually failing to prodnoe any appreciable effect, except the doses were increased. A course of the Bitters, persistently followed, breaks up the wjrri attacks and prevents their return. Tho evidence in favor of this sterling specific and household medicine is of no ambiguous character, but positive and satisfactory, and the sources whence it proceeds are very numerous. Conqueror Will Cure. There is no disease or affliction more easily cured than tho ordinary Fever and Ague of this country, and yet it is one of the most dreaded.

In fact, in pome persons, Fever and Ague, Intermitting, Remitting and kindred Fevers, if continued, bring on other diseases, which eventually prove very difficult to oure, and sometimes result in death. The Ague Conqueror, although a vegetable preparation, oontoirVing no poisons, has never failed to cure any care of Ague within our knowledge, and the chills do not return during that season. Price 50 cents and $1.00 per bottle. To make a permanent cure of a difficult case, it will require a 11.00 bottlo to cleanse the system and leave the Liver and other organs in a healthy condition, so that the chilis will not return. A remarkable tragedy occurred on the morning of the 8th, at the depot in Bait Lake City. Dr.

B. 0. Snedaker was silting in a car, when B. T. Smith m'cred.

Snedaker arose and fired, Smith falling with a bullet ia bis lung. The doctor was promptly arrested, but before the offioer had conveyed him to the do Smith sprang to his feet and fired twice at his assailant, both balls taking effect, and causing instant death. Smith was removed to the hospital in a dying condition. The two men have been well known and highly respected in D.ah for several years. Smith name from California, and Snedaker from Kentucky.

The feud between them grew out of the alleged seduction by Snedaker of a young lady in whom Smith was interested. Newberry county, South Carolina, furnishes a story of horrible and mysterious murder. While an old man, named Henry Grier, was fishing in Little river, the other day, he discovered the corpse of a man in the wattr. He gave the alarm, and people came end dragged theplaoe, recovering two bodice both victims being the sons of old man Grier. The yonng men had been shot to death, and their remains were afterward sunk by means of stones tied to their limbs.

An inquest was held, but no traoc of tho assassins could be discovered. The people are wildly excited over the affair. A St. Louis dispatch of the 13th say: John Langblin, while very drunk, went int the saloon of Andrew W. Zittell, in Eaet St.
