In 1888 in a vote of 40.764, Mr. Turner had a majority of 6,072. and 57.4 per cent of the vote of his district A republican loss of 14,431 in the twenty-two sparsely-settled counties of this district gives a most instructive lesson to any adamantine republican who may still have eyes to see and ears to hear this most fearful rebuke of a calumniating, dishonored p-trty. Just tbink of a republican vote in this district of 23,428 in 1888, and of 11,806 in 1890 a losa of more than 100 per cent.
