The following orders were, sent out to-day from the general niauager's office of the Atchisou, Topeka Sauta Fe road: Topeka, Kansas, May 15, 1884. Johusou as alternate. II. W. Roby was elected delegate to the Western of Homeopathy. Dr.

Kleni as alternate. Dr. Cook, of Clay Center, as to the Nebraska State Societv. large crowed of farmers and country nothing, only a woman of her discrip-tion had come to Topeka. There were uo policemen there to go with the poor man out into the da-k night, and being a stranger here he could do nothing alone.

He wandered around the city the remainder of the night, and finally became so depressed in spirits that he thought he would end all by taking a dose of arsenic. This he did, but luckily the dose was not sufficient to kill him, and did not act immediately He then took an ounce of lauduum, and this morning was found almost lifeless on the platform of the Santa Fe freight depot. Coroner Dr. Hib-ben was sent for and on arriving found there was life, and proceeded to administer the proper narcotics, which saved the man's life. He was taken to the city prison, where he now lays iu a state of stupor and insensibility.

Mr. J. E. Boyle is one of the most gentlemanly circus press agents that has visited Topeka for some time, and will be kindly remembered by the press "gang" of this city through time to come. A large number of the friends of Mr.

and Mrs. S. M. Wood gave them a surprise party last night. It was the seventh auuiversary of their marriage.

Mr. Wood was presented with a large easy chair while his wife received a photograph album and everal other valuable tokens. It was a plesant gathering of friends. The teut was tilled this afternoon and to-night there will be but a repetition in this matter. Even the after show was out of the routine of the kind of performances that are usually given by a circus, aud was well worth the price charged. The Doris show is as much better than was Cole's as can be expressed in print. ''As You Like Mr. Berger, advance man for Mod-jeska, arrived in the city this morning, and it has fiually been decided that she will appear as Rosaline in "As You Like It." This is the piece that everyone seemed anxious to have her play, so the program was changed to it.

The Homoeopathic State Society has been been in session for two days aud completed their session yesterday evening. Last night the Homeopathic Society of Topeka, tendered the State Society an informal reception at Library hall and the evening was greatly enjoyed by both societies and a large number of citizens.

During the early part of the eveuiug, intermingled with the social, Mrs. Cor-bin rendered some very difficult iu-strumeutal selections on the piauo, Miss Busk did some of her excellent singing, Mrs. Dr. Roby read a selection in German dialect, Miss Cobb furnished some instrumental music, aud Miss Ames, of Bethauy college, delivered two recitations iu an excellent way, all of which were heartily applauded. After this, elaborate refreshments were served.
