API I HIlMMi made kn hl i) icrii. Published ami Wotkly r.r thi' ANTHONY JOURNAL COMPANY, J. St- HAMMOND, Editor, A Peoples Ticket. In the issue of the Harpor Sentinel of dato May Slt appeared the following lines: "Tho Hentitiel favor the calling of a delegate convention of the people wlifi tavor the calling of county election as the only way oui of the preMent muddle." We copied thi in the Jouknal June-'nd and in commenting upon it said: "We are glad to see this change of heart or perhaps it should be termed a change of hase, as we have always believed 5ro. Isen burg was honest enough to be right when the light of prevailing opinion should dawn upon the window of the Hentiiu 1 sanctum." We were glad to see the Sentinel acknowledge between the lines that tho petition asking for the calling of a county seat election vras proving a failure and he was now as a last resort asKing that a delegate convention be called by those in favor of a county seat election.

Nothing in the Journal article ever hinted at a peoples ticket. We did not suppose such a thing was contemplated. Thin is not a year for mugwumpiani even In ounty elections. This will be one of the years when all honeet voters will tail into line with one or the other of the two great political parties. The other parties will be like sideshows to a circus, of little account, but tun for the money -there is in them for the leaders and manipulates.

Notwithstanding the fact that we said nothing about a people's ticket, the subject seems to have been on liro. Isen- burge's mind, for we tind in the issue of the Sentinel of June 5th the following lines. llamniod claims that the Henti nel has experienced a change of heart In advocating people's ticket for county nfheers this fall. WJ-en did we ever advocate any other political policy for our people Tim iiiinil Knur, villi- imoncil As we have just stated, we had said nothing about a ejple's ticket. "We believe in voting a people's in city or tow.n where the only question at issue is that of carrying out a public sentiment, but in county, state or national affairs a man who is not a ltepubli can or uemoerat tins year can scarcely be called an American citizen.

Senator IngaH's Latest. Last week The Times called attention to the article of Senator Ingalls in the June number of the Jsorth American Review, but so great is the interest expressed by his constituents who cannot get the magazine to read "Fetichismin the Campaign," we publish the entire article in this issue. In as plain language' as it can he put in a magazine article, Senator Ingalls tells the career of the man who has been made president and who is again a candidate f'r the of-iice. The fetich worshipers will raise their hands and their voices in holy horror and indignant protest over the Senator's declaration, but the people will remember that these same Pharasees and hypocrites who will now be indignant are those who invaded the wuiutity of on of the purest homes in he land and attacked the character of as pure a womon as there is in the world simply because she is the wife of James (i. Blaine.

Passing by the private character of Mr. Cleveland, the senator, with the hand of a master, draws his in-tfcllet'huil defects. Mr. Ingalls is not the first one to discern these, but in terse language and pointed expression he simply reiterates the opinions expressed by nearly every Democrat about Washington dur ing the first two years of the reign of Cleveland, and which many Democrats are saying today "in their confidential expressions. Ho Is a commonplace man who is la- union.

How it happened Is thus figured out: The Chicago, Santa Fe tfc California Railway is completed between Kansas City and Chieao, and the distance between the two cities is only 458 miles measuring from Union Depot, Kansas City, to Dearborn Chicago. This is exactly thirty miles less than by any of the old lines, so you have to travel thirty miles less, your lreight has to be lianled thirty miles loss, and practically the Hanta Pe has made thirty miles disappear.
