Yet our heart rank -los, not with envey, that the feet of thoso more fortunate may tread iu tho Boft aud llowory ways of luxury, while ours must keep on their hocus turned rounds upou tho hard bare floor of poverty. There seems to be two opinions as to the policy to be per sued at the coming election. One is, that it would be unwiso and not for tho best interest of the county to make a change in the present efficient corps of county officers and that the same should be el ected.

The other is, that while the present incumbents may have been ever so faithful in the discharge of thoir duties, ever so true to the interest of the people, they have simply done their duty; that their selection for this important trust by no means exhausted the sup ply of worthy and capable men in Kearney county; that if these offices are good things, they should be dis tributed around among the worthy and qualified, and not monopolized by a few, and this, us well as all others, should be a free for all race. We wonder if these are the kind of men (Price and Corfield) Governor Humphrey likes to fill important positions with? It looks like he might find men of worth and ability that are not charged with crime. If he can't, what does a Republican administration amount to. So far as we are concerned, we would rather have ft Democratic ad if we have got to have one of that kind. The people aro beginning to talk of who they waut for couuty officers next term, mid what they think of a people's ticket this fall. So far as we are concerned people's ticket can be made good enough for us to vote, as we ure satisfied there are as good Democrats as there are Republicans, only there are not as many of them.

Delicious ice cream and frosted cakes bore their part nobly, but finuly succomed to the persistant attacta of those presant, Everybody returned homo happier and "fuller" than the writer is able to tell. We are scrry to say that a good many of those who would have opposed the donation voted on she 13th iust remained at home, thinking it ouly a wasto of valuable time, knowing aa they did that there was a ma jority against them. This is against your interest It shows to those outside that the speculative and unlawful elemeut are in the majority with no oiHiositiou, thereby keeping hon est men from locating in the county.

heu you kuow you are in the right, like men, assert your rights. Hon est men will see your spirit and come to your rescue. To quietly Biibmit, because you are iu the minority, ouly means poverty anil debt for you. The men who are opjH'siiig you have no mercy; they are those who have left tho east because the had no use for them; they forget God, justice, the right of others and everything else iu their eagerness after the al mighty dollar, and eventually will leave you doiiuderiug in debt, which means privation aud constant toil for years to come. To tave your homes from their avidious grasp.

Iu Deer field precinct thirty three meu, representing the bt and moat euterpris iug in Kearney county, waJked up like men and voted to protect their homes. The west eul coiTef'jndont'a timely warning nx-eived in due time. While he sucwoded to some extent in patching np the jvutract part, he liled to explain about the Yon know have a sih'vl bouse in the tjxbhip that was built in the "llush" days of Kearney county, and by misrepresentation and deceit, was located where it would be of financial benefit to two or three who have never had their families in the township, and so $1,400 of public money is piled upon government land, and the town ship receives no benefit, because there are no children near.

The same amount of money would build three school houses throughout the town ship and all could have been benefited. This is why we kick, Bro. "Granger," and as long as we live in the county we will kick against the holder of a petty office, using his owu position to better his own interest, regardless of those who gave him his position. Yes, we will kick and kick hard, and if the clothes don't lit, no one need wear them. We are willing to stand the appellation of "chronic kicker" in preference to chronic boodler.

Kearney county has at least one thing to be proud of and that is her honest and efficient officers. TakiDg into consideration the demoralized condition of affairs when they took the helm, they certainly deserve the praise and support of every citizen of the county who is in favor of law and justice. Their brave, earnest action in all matters that pertain to the welfare of the county, is a matter that all honest settlers are proud of, ami should be heartily considered by all such be fore the 3rd of August. Do uot take any chances on a change, but when you havo a good thiug keep it. Soctd Sumee.
