C. I Smith left Monday for Kansas City where she will buy her stock of new spring hats. Lee Williams returned from Capron, Monday where he has been visiting friends since last Thursday. Obituary Adelle S. Paradis was born near Scottville, Kansas, November 20, 1875.

She joined the Presbyterian church when she was a mere child. She was united in marriage to Joseph W. Silvers November 25, 1891 and to this union was born four children, one of which has passed on before. Our dear wife and mother passed away at her home in Milan, Kans, on February 8. 1921 at the age of 45 years, 2 months, 19 days she leaves to mourn her loss her husband, one daughter, two sons and a grandson, a score of relatives and friends.

Each one of the ladies is an accomplished artist in her line. Those who attended were well pleased and all express their appreciation of the young ladies ability in the highest terms.

Checker Tournament The checker players of Argonia held a checker tournament in the Odd Fellows Hall Tuesday evening, the east side against the west side. There were six players on each side. The east side came out victorious in the contest. On Monday evening, February 14, at the A. Reimer home the "Rook Club" and their guests were entertained.

It was a "tacky" party and each one present came in tacky costumes, and there several elaborate dress displays and the new spring hats Were much in evidence. We had a very good time. Refreshments of doughnuts and coffee was sered by the hostesses. One who was there. Levi Cook, who suffered a s'roke of paralysis two weeks ago, is improving.

He is able to be out again now and walked down town for a short time Wed nesday. He is still unable to talk yet, except to say a few words once in awhile.
