Gunn, Who has had year of experience in producing this beautiful Allegory, and will delight aud fascinate those who are so lortuuate us to see tlie play. The Drama will consist of I) attic, Prison, Camp, Marching and other Scenes, Tableaux etc.

By the kindness of David Howell we were favored with twelve tickets from Southampton, England, to Emporia, Kansas, via the North German Lloyd Steamship Line. We came across in the Steamer Main, mak. ing the time of crossing the ocean a little more than eight days, running time. The steamer and all its appointments, including board, were first class, the ollkers were kind and courteous, and we would advise all our friends and parties in this and the old country that intend to cross the great ocean, to buy their tickets via North German Lloyd Line. By publishing this you will do us a great favor.

F. Railroad Company are making arrangements to put in machine- shops at tins jKjint, which will give em ployment to a large number of hands. We arc glad to see that Win. Powell's Fifth Avenue Hotel Is doing a good business. This hotel has always been a favorite stopping place for commercial men, and the "boys" can't come to Emporia without giving "Bill" a call.

Hall, Waite A Co. are in receipt of another lot of line musical instruments, among which we notice a magnificent Root Son's upright piano. We are glad to know that Hall, Wan Co. are doing a large business in musical instruments. The Emporia Electric Light and Gas Company is progressing in their work, although no work as yet lias been done towards erecting the buildings, laying pipes, ice.

The enterprise is a fixed fact and the works will be built at an early day. The Duke of Southerland, who passed thro' this city on Friday evening last, is inspecting the American system of railroads, and is the guest of the T. S. F. Company.

Georsrc Williams was arrested and brouirht before Ttulirc Bach- ellor for striking his wife and girl with a "blackssnake" whip. Mrs. Williams swore that as far as she was concerned, the charge was false. As to the girl the charges were sustained by competent witnesses. The fine imposed by the court, and costs in the case, amounted to $17.0, which were promtly paid.

Work on the new denot in this citv will be commenced on the first of June; and we are reliably informed that Mr. W. H. Strong says it will be the finest on the line of the A. T.

S. F. railroad west of Topeka. It will be one hundred feet lonr ami ioriy ieet wuie, as we stated berorc. It will be two stories high and be supplied with all the modern improvements of a first-class depot, including baggage rooms and track sheds, and a magnificient din ing hall.

What Emporia has: A $60,003 Normal School; a $75,000 water-works; a $25,000 Hotel Coolidge; a $17,000 High School building; a $20,000 round-house; a $13,000 Congregational church; a $10, 000 Presbyterian church; and 17 other separate and distinct churchorganiza-tions, with building ranging in price from $1,000 up to $5,000. What Emporia will have this summer A $30,000 opera house; a $40,000 cut stone depot; a $50,000 gas works: a Catholic a M. Louis a full-fledged lawyer, and hung out his sign in the Emporia National Bank building. Owing to the fact that their church was undergoing repairs, the colord Bab-ttsts held their meeting in the court house yesterday. As soon as the new A. T. S.

depot is completed, the otd depot will be improved, enlarged and used exclusively as a freight depot. Mr. J. H. Mills bought last week jo.ooo pounds of wool.

The price ranged from 15c to oc per pound. The clip is just beginning to come into market. The Indian medicine-man has left the city. He reaped a bountiful harvest of quarters and half dollars, and promised to come again next vear. N.

E. Weaver started on Saturday last tor Alamosa, Colorado, with two cars of Missouri mules. Mr. Weaver goes to the mountains for pleasure and speculation. On Friday night last a new satellite was discovered revolving around the Moon that occupies the Lyon-co.

Last Saturday a large tarantula was discovered on a banana stalk at Rice's restaurant, the "beast" was captured and carried off by a stranger who was present. This being Decoration day the Rifles will decorate the grave of their comrad, Hurt road well who died last vear, and any ot her graves of soldiers they may be able to find. Give the "Color Guard" a rousinir house to-night. Tickets 25c and 35c. To-night is the last chance to see the thrilling war drama of of the "Color Guard." Tickets 25 and 35 cents. The attention of our worthy and ef ficient Street Commissioner is kindly in vited to the fact that many large stones are lying around loose on which is a source of great annoyance and some danger to persons driving teams thereon particularly light buggies.

Will he ahate the nuisance? Of course he will. The Emporia Rifles were complimented with a rousing house on Saturday night, and the "Color Guard" was rendered in a superb manner. Hy the request of many citizens they will produce the play again this evening. The price of admission has been reduced to 25c and 35c. We hope to see the house crowded fo overflowing.

In addition to the new buildimrs to be erected in Emporia, mentioned in the Bulletin last Friday, te learn that the entire snace west of the Emnori.i Nation. al Hank, on to will be built up with a block of handsome business rooms, and that a new hotel will be erected on the south-west corner of Fifth-ave. and Merchants-st. The Fort Wayne (Ind.) Gazette talks: 'Arlington's Minstrels gave one of the )est entertainments last night at the Opera House seen in Fort Wayne this season. The troupe consists of twenty-four members, and the entertainment includes singing, solo plaving, negro min strelsy, clog dancing and laughable far ces.

Some ot the voices in the troupe are excellent. Mr. Hanks Winters sang the pathetic little song called "The Cradle's Empty" with touching effect. The cornet solos by Harry Hardy were gracefully played, and the hnrmonicon solos by Mr. Ihomas Young were wonderful.

The humorous oration by Mr. Arlington and the banjo music by the same amusing artist and his little dosr "Dot," were rapturously applauded. The jokes were fresh, the dancing re markably tine, and the farces running over with laughter." Mr. Chalfant, of Emporia, has started a neat little morning daily paper. The Daily Bulletin, in that city that srives good promise in its tone and make up.

Another daily in Emporia shows a large degree of pluck on the part of its pro prietor, hut as we like to see pluck re warded, we hope Mr. Chalfant may make i ins nuiu venture a paying success. ten-rcha Herald. Thanks. There is just as much room in Emporia for da'ly papers as there is for one.

The people want two and are going to support them both. Virtually there has not been but one paper in Emponu for the past two years. Em poria is a city of over inhabitants and can support two daily papers as easi ly as rolling off a log. The Daily leti fact, and will shortly be enlarged. The people like it, subscribe for it and advertise in it.

It is so cheap that everybody can afford it, and so well that everybody will read it. The iii'LLETiN is a local paper for local purposes, and to fulfill its mission it is not necessary that it should be as large as a horse blanket and filled up with stereotype plates of worthless advertisement. you want to know anything about tickets.
