A circulating library is one of the institutions that our city will have in the near future, and it will undoubtedly prove a benefit to our people, young and old, rich and poor, learned or ignorant. Mr.Lanyon's arrangements are about completed, and his membership list is increasing rapidly. The books to be sent by the Chicago Library Company will comprise histories, biographies, essays, drama, poetry, travels, belles lettres, novels, etc. In the way of light literature the leading romancers of the past and present will find representation, and this affords the community a chance to become acquainted with the literati and the offsprings of their minds, that they have heretofore been without.

American, British and Continental authors can be indulged and studied to the hearts content, and with this valuable accessory towards our future advancement, there is but one thing lacking to make the question of culture complete, and that is a reading room provided with the ereme de la ercme of monthly and weekly periodicals.
