There happened at the meeting several of Grant county's citizens, who saw the course matters were taking, quickly took their cue, and shot the ball fair into an old county line hole. The Ulysses Town Company will shortly begin the erection of a large and costly hotel building in this city. Hunt Kittle have sold their house and lot on south Main street to T.evi Amick, of Kiowa county, for 3125. The girls and boys had a good ilance in the Hall Saturday evening. The ladies outnumbered the gentle-jnen.

A grand oyster supper was given by Captain ami Mrs. Kastman to a few friends at their residence, three miles southeast of this city, Thursday evening. A capitalist visiting this city this week offered to bet one thousand dollars that Ulysses would be the county seat of Grant county. Here is a chance for some of our confident Surprise people. Three mules were sold at sheriff's sale, Friday, that had belonged to Case Fogle, of Ulysses.

The three brought $178.50, II. J. Dutton getting two and 15. II. O'Connor the Other.

Mr. L. D. Vick ers, of Stafford, is visiting in Ulysses and is the guest of bis brother-in-law, Mr.
