W. F. Long was in this vicinity one day last week on his way home with a fine mare he had purchased of Mr. Bethard, Nick Classen and wife Sundsyed with J. G.

Brooks and wife. The Linnville telephone company is talkinir of putting in a switch ard at Linvilleand connecting with Pleasanton. Let the good work go on. Rev. Williams pTeached his farewell termini at this place last Sunday.

The Linnville Literary Society will meet Oct. Hth at 7.30 p. in. for the purpose of organing. Every cue come out.

Cady. Richland Sowing wheat is the order of the day. Mr. Leard and family have returned from Louisburg, after a few days visit with their daughter. Mr.

Carter has returned from Kansas City, where he fell fell from a telephone pole and broke two or three ribs. He is rapidly recovering and expects to re-tnrn to his work soon. B. F. Parker and family spent Sunday with Ed Stark and family.

Ed Stark's little daughter is quite sick with melaria fever. George Ccx and Johnnie Farris spent Sunday with Eugene Parker. Josie Starli visited with her sister, Mrs. King, of Linville Sunday Alvin and Will Milton started to Webster, Kansas Monday to spend two or three weeks with their parents. School is progressing nicely.

Prof. Harris is well pleased with the school work with Miss Grace Boots as teacher. Mr. Frank Dobyns called on Jess Dobyns Sunday. Miss Olive Dobyns returned to her school near Monnd City Monday.

Sherman Johnson is working at his new Louse this week and 'hinks he will have iu completed by spring. J. W. Johnson, of Pleasanton, was seen going to his new farm wrest of Richland this week. Uncle Billy Stark and wife called on their daughter near Cadmus unlay.

Frank Stark returned to his work near Parksr Mertie Cox visited the fair at Paola Thursday. Sherman Johnson is going to build a big barn soon. F. Parker is going to move on bis place iu the spring. Mertie Cox visited relatives in La Cygne last week.

Ja'ie Stark was railing at Mrs. Mental's Sunday. Wonder where Emery was? Elsie Griffith, of near Parker, called on Ollie Hodsou of France district Sun day. B. F.

Bert Coffiu and family visited at Sam Ashley's the latter part of the week. E. Kline moved from Mr. Hickman place, Monday, Fern Runion visited Ruby Smith Thursday night. The Maiinda heirs had a fine day for the sale and ever thiug brought a fair price.

47 Groan Valley J. B. Withers marketed a load of fine hogs in Pleasanton Monday. Miss Flora crawhaw spent Sunday afternoon with Gertrude Rice. Quite a number from place attended the Melindy sale of Oberin District last Friday.

Miss Anna Brewel spent Sunday afternoon with Ile.en Crawford. Mrs. Frederick and children spent Friday afternoon with Mrs. Coffee. Mrs.

Millard left Sunday for Trinidad after an extended visit with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Brock and family. J. W. Harper is plowing south of Pleasanton this week on a place they have rented for the coming year.

John Yeager is expected home this Week from Western Kansas where he has been trying his fortune the last few inontbs. Miss Maude Goss returned home Wednesday after a weeks visit with relatives in LaCygne. Ernest Goss and family left last Saturday for their new home iu Odessa, Mo. Their many friends regret to loose them from this community but wish them success in their new home. Miss Alic; Carpenter of Pleasanton spent Saturday night, and Sunday at her aunts Mrs.

Our contests for rural correspondents starts out with a flattering lot of news the first week with several new contributors. If you were behind this week perhaps you will catch on to more news the next weekaud the other party may not get so many. Linnvilla. Fine weather at present. For various reasons we were prevented from feeling our regular place in the columns of the En'ikrpkise last week, but here we are again.

Siron, Chas. Siron, Misses Ola Merriman and Ollie Povenmire, who were reported on the sick list last week, are able to be out again. J. II. Sirou had business in Pleasanton one day last week.

Dims Mersiman is reported on the sick list this week. Miss Minnie Peterson is staying with Mrs. C. Craig, of Pleasanton. Mr.

Siron hauled corn to Mr. McCoy's mill the latter part of last week. John Povenmire and daughter. Miss Ollie were iu Pleasanton last Saturday transacting business aud visitsng relatives. Mrs.

Hart who has been very poorly for tometime past is reported lots better. Albert Wolfinger and wife are contemplating moving To Iola to live this win ter. Milton is dangerously ill at this waiting. T. E.

Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Wayne visited Will Doyle aud family of Oak Grove, last Monday.

Henry Filby has moved to Trading Post. Ora Ison visited Mable Hines Saturday night e.nd Sunday. Chas. Lane is setting the last few poles on the Eureka, Oberlin telepone line. Al Ashley, Tom Haverfield, Messrs Ellis and Baldwin hauled cane to the mills the latter part of last week.

Ross Leonard and wife spent Sunday at Frank Coppage's. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ashlev and Miss Ivy, visited at Sam Ashley's Sunday.

E. Rice was called to Thayer, Kansas last Saturday night to attend the funeral of his father Peter Rice who died on Saturday sept. SO 190o at 6:10 m. after an illness of about two months and buried on Monday afternoon Oct. 2.
