Mr. and Mrs. M. Murphy gave their annual New Years dinner Tuesday to a large number of the relatives aad friends. Everything to be had in the way of good things which go to make nancial success.

The program that had been prepared, and for the pleas ure of listening to it a small admis sion of ten cents was charged was such an event a success, were served and the occasion was thoroughly en shipment to Kansas City. This amount is available to loan on Harper county real estate and the money is ready as soon as the title is pronounced clear. The rate is as low as any one in Southern Kansas can make you. An Agreeable Surprise. On the day before Christmas the Rural Carrier at Duquoin, Kansas, a little surprised when quantities of corn, oats, canned fnuit, onions, chickens and other useful articles began to arrive. The horses were out on wheat pasture and ate too much waste wheat that had been thrown into a pile when the wheat was threshed. A young German farmer living in Empire townsnip went crazy last week and was brought before an insanity board Wednesday at Anthonj and pronounced insane.

His name is Fred Waltje and is a very prosperous farmer owning 240 actes of land and considerable stock. He has a wife and three small children. His insanity was caused by brooding over religious matters. He will be taken to one of the state institutions. Mrs Will Lattin is quite ill. Ransom Robinson -Jr of Windsor III came Wednesday to visit at the home of his uncle Thompson and family. Harry Baker, of Anthony, Harper county's leading abstracter is suffering from a very painful injury, caused by a cow striking him on the head. His eye is severely injured and some of the bones surrounding the eye are broken. He may not recover the use of it.

He is compelled to remain at home on account of the injury.
