D. Hatch was born in Brattleboro, February 15th, 1S31, and removed in early youth to N. Y. state. In 1S49 he moved to Winebago county, 111.

In 1S57 he was married to Clarissa to this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded him to the great beyond. In 1S59 he crossed the plains to Cali fornia, where he remained one year and then returned to Illinois. In 1SG5 he moved to Portland, Ore gon, where he remained one year, returning bv the way of the Isthmus of Panama and New York to Illinois. In 1SG9 he moved to Woodson county, Kansas, where he resided until his removal to Buffalo, Kansas, in 1902. By his upright dealing and genia disposition he made a host of friends.

He fcas been confined to his room for several months by an attack of the grippe, and although everything was done for him that his loved ones could do, but to no avail, he died on June 22nd. A wife and three son and one daughter survive him, and with a host of friends, mourn his death. "Yet we weep not as one who has no hope, for our loss is his eternal gain." The funeral sermon was preached at the Buffalo M. E. church by Rev.

The market for beef steers closed the week Saturday with prices for all grades except gocd handy weight cattle 10 to 15c lower than the previous week's finish. The higher priced cows and heifers closed the week showing a decline 15 to 25c. Medium grades did not change much. Stock cows and heifers broke Bulls were quiet; veals picked up somewhat. Best stock-ers and feeders held up well, owing to light supply, but others were dull and irregularly lower.

Receipts today were 5,000. Trading was active, and good to choice beeves advanced 10 to 25c," in fact, almost all killing steers advanced this much. Fed cows and heifers gam 0 to 25c; grass cows were fully steady. Bulls were quiet and steady; veals scarce and strong. Hog prices Saturday were very little different from last week's closing fig ures.

Receipts today were 5,000. Com petition was keen, trading active and a general advance of 5 to 15c Bulk of sales ware from to 5.45. Sheep and lambs declined 15 to 25c for the week ending last Saturday. Receipts today were 6,000, including 2,500 direct to a packer. Sellers had their turn today and succeeded in ad vancing quotations fulry 10c.
