The Percherons are most highly prized of all French races, and all departments of France go to the Perche for stallions to William P. Kinney, Chicago, Ht. JosepU and Topeka by JJIrect Kail. The first regular pasngpr train over the Kansas, Nebraska Dakota division of the great Rock Island route, arrived in Topeka at 12:25 Sunday morning and was welcomed by an immense crowd of people. The train was made up of a combination baggage, mail and express car and three passenger coaches.

The cars are all new and cf the most approved pattern. At a short diotance off tbey have the appearance of sleepers. The cars are supplied with the JJaker patent heaters, which in the matter of safety as well as comfort are a great improvement over the ordinary car Btove. The trucks bear the mark of the Rock Island shops, Chicago, and the frame work that of the Pulman Car company. The train was in charge of Conductor Scott, John Francis, baggageman, Charles Sultler.

But some importers are offering certificates from France of Norman draft horses that may mislead people who do not understand the French language into believing these records of origin. Not one cf them They are furnished at the request of American buyers by the secretary of one of the French Agricultural societies, who says there is no intention of publishing them in stud book form, as they have no pedigrees and are of no value whatever. It is a well-known fact that what a man gives for a horse over from $500 to $800 the price of a good grade is paid for purity of blood and where the seller is not able to give the recorded pedigree of the animal sold as evidence of additional value, he bai no right to ask it. With these facts before him, no intelligent man will buy a horse imported from France unless he is recorded with his pedigree in full in the Percheron Stud Book of France. Homer, the well known silk culturirt, ha Ik en appointed superintendent of the station, and will superintend the erection of a $3,000 building, which will be put up at once. Keeling machinery, shafting and fixtures, costing 93,000 will be put in as toon as the building is completed. The superintendent was authorized to purchase eggs and mulberry seed sufficient for the station. The commissioners will proceed to Larned on Friday to select a plat of ground on which the station is to be located. For tbe encouragement of the industry a bounty of cents per pound will be paid to any individual or family within the state by the ccmmiiwioners for the best quality of Cocoons.

The highest foreign market value of cocoons will bo paid for the premium crops Cash will be paid for all cocoons tent to the station as soon as inspected or tested. The price for cocoons will depend entirely upon the quality of silk contained and the condition in which the ilk may be received, and foreign-market value will be the standard price for cocoons at the station. liy the urgent appeals of friends of this industry. Congress has made several appropriations for the encouragement of silk culture, through which much has been done to forward the interests cf bilk culture, but the great want of a market for cocoons has not -en met by government appropriations.

The object of the Kan sas ilk station ii to meet this long felt want, and thereby stimulate a rapid development of the industry. will henceforth be a home market for the silk growers of Kansas and ample market for those raiding cocoons in other portions of the country. Millions of persons in foreign countries rtceive support at silk culture, and it is only a question of time until hj any millions will annually be saved to the people cf the United States by the development of this important branch cf agriculture.
