There were quite a number of folks called in the evening with a-shower of beautiful and useful gifts The gift of the groom's parents was it beautiful bed room suite. Tilliotson of Winfield was a Latham visitor Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jphn Stewart had the misfortune to have the house they were living in and everything they had as house-furnishings and clothing burned Thursday. They have no idea how the house caught fire as they had not been home since early noon and it btfrned at 5 o'clock.

Arthur Belnap and little daughter Thelma of Vinton were visiting Mrs. Belnap's mother and other relatives and friends Tues day of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Westbrook have both been victims of the measles the past week also the younger children of Mr.

and Mrs. Frank New and New himself has been seriously sick from a relapse and taking cold which is causing an abscess in his head. He and his sister Mrs. G. Trather motored to Winfield to consult a specialist Monday and we understand he was greatly relieved of the suffering when she started home he will stay a few days in Winfield to be near the doctor.

Frank Metcalf also ventured out too much in the damp and cold while broken out with the rash and has in consequence been quite sick. Mr. Perry Westbrook and Miss Verna went to to visit Mr. Westbrook's mother. There was a large crowd out to the literary society Wednesday night anil beside the usual program of reading and music given by the home folks there was quite a musical program.

Three of the iVnton quartet were pre sent and sang several selections. The Ellerton furnished several in strumental pieces as their part of the program and the music and songs by Bonnie Prather and his sisters, Miss Iva and Ada and the songs Miss Anna Gannon and Goldie Book er were all highly Appreciated and enjoyed also the duet.by Miss Ilannon and Miss Beck We were not present but were sure we had missed a treat when told of the good music and program. It was decided bjj the judges of debate that it was proven the best not meddle in the government of Mexico. The society adjourned indefinitely will organize again. We suppose in the fall.

The ladies of the Victor Point Red Cross unit wil meet with Mrs. Frank Atkinson, Thursday afternoon. All interested in the Red Cross work are most cardially invited to attend this meeting. The rain of Thursday night and Friday wil greatly benefit the wheat and all growing crops and was welcomed by all intrested in food conservation. The pie.
