A. every Sunday after-noon at four o'clock, 218 North Main St. The annual Presbyterian Sabbath-school Convention was held this year at Peabody, Kan. Oct. 9th and 10th.

It was well attended, and the addresses were unusually fin'e. Not a man on the program failed to be present, and every address was strong and helpful Rev. Dr. A. F.

Irwin of Hutchinson made the opening address on the subject "The Demand of Time for Better Work and Better Methods" He said that one of the facts which we need to face is, that we are not doing as good work as we can do; not as good as we ought to do, and therefore must do, in our Sabbath-schools. There are two great classes of people whome it is hard to reach, viz: the dregs, and the foam. That is, the rich, and indolent class, and the very ignorant and poor, Some years ago the bible was the text book in the public schools, but now education has become so secularized as to make the Subbath--seliool more necessary aud more im years, were children. A irienii of mine who is the pastor of a very large church writes ine that 75 per cent of i "He conversions are children. Look dt the dimpled little tbl with golden curls on her way to Sabbath-school.

What does it mean? It menus, if the Sabbath-school idea is true, if the plan of salvation is true, yes, if the bible is true, that that little dimpled, blue eyed tot is destined to fall to the lowest depth of hell, or rise to the glory and joy of high heaven; and to a degree the destiny of that little tot depends upon the Sabbath-school teacher. portant than ever. The church needs closer touch with the Sabbath-school. Better work can be done and should be done by us, NOW. Mr J. H.

Hoch of Marion gave a very helpful address on the theme "The Superintendent and his Duties" The Superintendent should be selected and appointed by the Session, and allow the school to elect him afterwards. He should be a consecrated christian should have right ideas, and opinions upon every subject. He should keep posted as to what is going on, and be up with the time's. The Superintendent should be an organiser, and it is very desirable that he be a popular person, especially with the young. Of course he must be a bible scholar, and understand doctrin.

Executive ability is indt spensible. He should ijjnor rather than expose trivial faults. The Superintendent ought never to attempt to review; he should either let it go, or call upon tne pastor to conduct it. He should be a careful stu dent. There is no "doing the best you without knowing: the best you can.

The Superintendent, and everybody else should look upon the Sabbath-school and the church as one. "The Bible as a Text Book" Rev. H. A. Zimmerman of Mulvane, Kan.

The speaker gave a beautiful outline study of the book of St. John, treating it topically and as a complete whole. He suggested that the International system of lessons does not cover the whole bible, and that a better system was needed, that would give the pupil a more definite idea of the bible as a book, and more skill in handeling it, and knowing its contents. We hope the entire address will be published in this Journal soon. Rev.

W. W. Smith, waver! addressed the Convention on the subject of was both interesting aud very profitable. "The Importance aud Value of the Sabbath-school" was presented by Rev. Chas.

E. lira. It, Ph. D. of Wichita.

His remarks were based on the incident in the life of Christ, recorded in St. Luke 11: 46, "and it came to pass, that after three days Ihey found him in the temple, sitt ing in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions." So, then, ought all his followers to be found today, in the Sabbath-school asking and answering questions about the great truths of the bible. Rev. J. Y.

Ewart, of Newton gave a very helpful IVe-view of the current Sabbath-school lessons, which was listened to with close attention. The convention closed, with a stit-j'ing appeal for by Rev. Jas. G. Cunningham of Wellington.

Everything seemed to conspire to mike this a great Convention, The singing was good, and the solos specially fine. The prospect is for a largely attended convention a year hence. By Rev. John II. Fazel.
