Look the Stock over before buying elsewhere. 1 i id' a- Jran Mrsf Laura Smith, wife of John Smith, died at her home Monday, Jan 18, 1909, at 3.30 o'clock. Mrs. Smith was 31 years old.

She came to Great Bend from Clinton, 12 years ago She was married to John Smith about 7 years ago and confessed a hope in Christ about 7 years ago, under the pastorship of Rev. W. R- Banks. She joined the First Baptist church and was baptised by Rev. iiauks.

Mrs. Smith was vice president of the Queen Esther Circle of the First cburcb. She leaves to mourn her loss a loving husband and little daughter Gladys, a kind mother, four sisters and four brothers. One brother, Wm. Franklin, lives in Great Bend; one sister in Kansas City, Kansas, and the rest in Missouri.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the First Baptist church, and was conducted by Rev. J. H. Raimey. Rev.

Raimey preached a very beautiful and impressive sermon. Tbe sympathy of the community is extended to the family in their sad hour. Mrs. Anna Bynuio, of Wichita, came up to attend the funeral of ber cousin, Mrs. Laura Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. George Smith and children are here from Pratt The Sunday school of the First Baptist caurch is doing just fine under tbe leadership of the Superintendent, J. W. Rucker.

Miss Lottie Lewis, teacher of tho young Misses class, has bad tbe banner four straight Sundays. Rev. Raimey preached two soul stirring sermons Sunday. The proceeds for Sunday were Mr. and Mrs.

Julia Collins was held at the 2nd Baptist cburcb Wednesday afternoon. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Cox, of Salina. Miss Lillian Cavens expects to depart for Soolx City, Iowa, soon. The K.

Slaughter, of Denver, enroute to Indiana to tbe bedside of her father, who is very sick, stopped oil here and took her daughter, Mrs. Anna Cannon, with her. Rev, S. M. Lee and wife were in Hill City this week on business.

A number of farmers thaahed cane and other small sued this week. Tbe wind last week blew down the blacksmith shop and damaged another building very badly. Mrs. Ida Davenport is very sick. Mrs.

Gillis Tonoda, Luke Barnett is still- in tbe bog killing business. He killed four on Monday. Bob Wilson on North 7th street de parted this life last Sunday evening. Tbe literary at tbe Shilo Baptist tburcb is doing nicely. P.

W. Barnett is president of tbe society. On last Wednesday night they rendered an excellent program. CBETOPA NEWS. Rev.

Van Lue, of Wichita, preached at Bethlehem church night and Little Flock church Wednesday night. Both meetings were well at tended. Jasper Washington returned to Par sons Saturday, Mrs. Dan Coleman is on the sick list. Paul Binkley came down from Par sons Saturday to visit his mother, Messrs Reed and Porter made a flying trip to Joplin last week.

Tbe social that was to have been given by the Little Flock church Sat urday night was postponed. It dis appointed a good many Oswego boys and girls who came dowo on the evening train. Mrs. Geo. Washington is slill on the sick list.

Prof. J. E. Finlcy returned to Yale Sunday, KOT1CE. To tbe members of tbe Smoky Hill Rirer Baptist Association: Ths minutes of the last session are now ready.
