I'HKfiiKNT Ci.kvi-XaSd has been winning golden opinions for his business principles and honesty of purpose in properly vetoein so many bills which only pro mote mendacity and corruption.

Every honest soldier; will approve his course when the canst are fully understood There have been so many in.4ane.es where fraud is so plainly visible: here i-- one: "William Hishop. who is the subject of one of these bills, was a substitute, enrolled March tiT. Nine days later (April Mrd.) he was admitted to the hospital jit liidianaM)lis with the measles. On Ma oth. he was removed to the city trneral hospital, returned to duty May Hth: mustered out with unassirned men May llth.

and on June 2H. 18X0. fifteen years later, applied for a pension on the ground that the attack of measles of April HUf. "had settled in his ejes and affected his spinal column." Mn. Uisroe got his pay as a substitute: jrot hit pay as a soldier for forty-seven days, thirty-five of which he spent in the hospital: got his treatement for the mea- slep.

and got his discharger He got off very well. But in the name of outraged loyalty, why shouldn't he have his pension? Until the country settles for iiat damaged spuial column the Goddess of Liberty should go into mourning. When the eople eoine to vote on the county-seat question they should ponden on this) picture of a bloated monopoly jumping the claim of the peopled town, where it had been mutulaJly agreed that they wouln continue togeth-r, build a town and thereby reap some advancement on their venture and investment. However niuch the monopolies of the country liave succeeded over labor, and the efforts of those in moderate financial circum-staees to get a little more than a mere living, it will certainly fail in this. The people are very properly not in sympathy with this way of doing business and will not. tolerate it.

There are instances where it cannot be avoided, but this is one of the exceptions to that rule. Here is where that glorious privilege-the American ballot can do its work. This will be one Of the instances that the franchise of one" man though he may be ever so poor, will count as much as the millionaire. It is not in accordance with our form of gov ernment that the rights of the people should be trampled upon by the strong arta of monied monopoties. The dav of the pirate is passed.

The instinct of hu man nature and the first law of civiliza tion rebel against such intrusion. The voters of this county will see to it that the bread and butter and the by deprivation and hard labor, are not voted away from the families who have cast their all with the pea-pie- of -Le-' oti and labored diligently to make it 'town that would supply the demands 'of the ieo-ple of the countp. An honest vote will decide it in favor of the people's town, and um honest vote must be had. Keep Them Posted. I lhzens of uhita county should de their duty by not only subscribing for the Dkmockat.

but get extra copies of it to semi back to friends in the east. Yot all -t 'i kiiow now giau you are mat you came here, but seeing this beautiful country ever' day has become old to you except when you legin to compare the old with the new the east with the west friends are as much entitled to the'. bene fits afforded by Wichita county as you are and you will do them an injustice by not giving the desired information. Send a copy of the Dkmockat to some of your friends every week. It will save writing along letter, and will tell more than you would feel like writing in a week.

It will ever bear the good news from Wichita county and the certainty of Leoti being the county seat. Puesidext CLEVELANBrnoes not believe that measles affect the spinal column, except in pension cases nor diarrhoea causes sore eyes; nor that suicides by drowning and morphine poisoning were the result of injuries received in the service. Mr. Evarts. now in the senate, is making his speech before commission and real portraits are iven of all. the notable men who were resent and participated in that great historical inquiry. It represents the disgraceful occurrence of American history.

This is to be credited to his regard for peace and the prosperity of the nation, knowing that time is a great evener of all irregularities, and that by it all wrongs are righted. Suffered it in humiliation that this country, might live undivided. His ambition was the good of the people in whom he had the greatest confidence and interest. These wrongs have been reprimanded and the predictions of the grand old man are every day being verified. Peace to his ashes while the nation mourns.

From the Northeast Part of the County Mil. Editok: I have, in the last few days, been very much impressed with the 4piestion of where should the county-seat of this county be located to do justice to those who deserve to be awarded the county-seat. Now, to lay all prejudice aside, according to my honest convictions, the Kiople of Leoti are the people who deserve to have the county-seat located at their town, and 1, for one from the northeast part of the county, will vote first, last and all the time for Leoti City. Some wrill why will I vote for Leoti. and not for Coronado, when it will be three mils nearer to me than Leoti, thus saving six miles drive in the round trip to come to the county-seat 1 will tell you my reasons.

Every man who has come to this tine country since the first starting of Leoti and got nice and good homes has done so with the hejp of these venturesome, go-ahead people of Leoti. Had it not been for plucky citizens of Leoti myself and many another man would have been back in some of the eastern states, moving around from place to place every spring, paying from ohethird to one half of all one ear hs to one's landlords, no better off at the end of the year than when we began, and never able to own a home for ourselvas and children. By the influence of the Leoti people we have been enticed here to get us nice and good homes, and I every man is proud as 1 am of my diome. We shouln be Uiaukful to the first settlers of this country for.them. While we were back east, these people of Leoti were out here in the wild country undergoing the hardships fand disadvantages of all new countries, starting a town and preparing a way thatAve might be able to procure our necessities.

Since we have come to this country through this in-ftuenc, is it not more fair and just to all that the county-seat should be located an etpial distance from the four corners of the county, just where Leoti is situated As I said before Leoti was started by the first settlers of the county, while Coronado was started since then by a set of capitalists for a mere speculating scheme, not caring how many men they injured, just so they made a "speck" out of itfor. themselves. I don't think we want any men in our country who will lay in secret ready to pounce upon" the settlers who have been brought here by the people of Leoti, the Coronado founders meanwhile not having sand enough to go out and seccre settlers on their own hook. I now say to the founders of Coronado. take your little town and to some new county, as Leoti founders did, place your town near the center of the county and make a county-seat of your own.

Give every man his equal and just rights and never be caught doing another such trick as this again. Now to all the voters of Wichita county, I write this for your consideration. Let us lay aside all prejudices and argue together; and if you show to me that I am wrong I am ready to confess it and ask forgiveness. Yours respectfully, A Citizen.
