Messrs. David Purgett and David Wat-kins came in with merchandise for cur merchants Saturday from Garden City. Messrs. J. C.

Talinadge and E. G. Hoopes have purchased the Wichita Cou n-ty Bauk ahd have taken possession. Both are first-class financiers, men of sterling integrity, and under their management will make it a grand success. It couH not have fallen into better hands.

Gall ahd Price Dr. Chesnut reports a booming girl baby, born to Mr. and Mrs. Late Hare, Sunday evening. Mother and husband both doing well.

Cigars are no win order. The billiard hall under the management of Messrs. Kranz Jackson, is fast becoming a popular resort. The tables are occupied about constantly day and night. Nearly every man in the city was seen smoking Monday afternoon.

Messrs. Tal-madge Hoopes, the new banking firm, set 'em up. There are as fine stock horses in this new western country, as you will find in old settled portions of the east, and Coronado can boast of some of them. See that your neighbors turn out tomorrow and cast their votes for the D. M.

A. Your farms will double in value inside of the next six months. The trees set out on Main street in the early spring are growing nicely, and will ornament our beautiful city in the days that are to come. Paint is being freely used on our business houses, which improves their looks 100 per cent. There is not now an un-painted business house in the city We are in receipt of the catalogue of Washburn College, Topeka, and from a perusal of it are of the opinion that it is in a most flourishing condition.

Mr. Li. L. Stidger has a nice garden patch, and was seen Saturday with a fine bunch of radishes in one hand ahd a bunch of onions in the other. The flood-gates of heaven were again opened on us Friday night, and for an hour or more the bottom seemed to have fallen out of the clouds.

Send some morej we can stand it. Messrs. Brady; Hooks and a number of other enterprising farmers; were visitors at out office Saturday. They all report crops in fine condition and think there wLl be a large yield. See that only the best material in the city fill the difierent city offices.

You can't well aflord to put in some Crank who does not know the difference between a mud pie and a gilded lamp post. Mr. William Colhouer, bf 19-35; spent a portion of Monday in Coronado, the bounty seat of Wichita county. He reports everything as looking lovely in his neighborhood. Yoct cannot afford to stay away from the polls when it is a question of dollars and cents with you.

Vote for the bonds and you will see a boomiog county in a very short time. Mrs. Thomas O. Hall returned from her St. Louis trip Monday.

She is much improved in health and enjoyed her visit immensely. Torn is as happy now as a jay bird in cherry time. Messrs. Wm. Shannon, Tm.

Beaver; John Tucker; Samuel Hames and Wm. Landreth; enterprising citizens of the southwest part of the county, paid bur city a visit Monday. A girl looks prettier in a nice lawn dress than she does rigged out like a show-window or a millinery establishment. But; then, nine out of ten girls would rather be a "show-window." Two gentlemen who are interested in the milling business at Kansas City and Hays City, have rented a building on South Main street, and will open a first-class feeel store. Mr.

Tansickle will erect three more residences ih the west part of the city immediately. There is no better investment that we fire aware of; and Mr. V. shows his good sense in putting his money into investments of the above nature. The grading on the D.

M. A. railroad is completed through this county, and the contractors have moved out into Colorado. The grade through Greely county will be completed by the latter part of this week. We are pleased to see our property owners setting but so many shade trees.

It is one of the best improvements they could make to enhance the value of their property. The trees set out are doing fine, and we hope to see more put out. As fine a lot of potatoes as we could care tb look at were marketed here Saturday. They were raised by Mr. Eowley, near the Beaver.

Eoy Stidger, the pioneer grocer, was the purchaser, but they did not remain long on his hands, for there was a big demand for them. Coronado seems to possess two young men of exceedingly attractive qualities. They are genuine magnets, so to speak, in the eyes of the females; and more than likely by this means will be the cause of two yotmg ladies from the country to become residents of our beautiful city It is so Sweet to have sceh Lilly (s) to thus attract the admiration of the fair ones to com) and flH Colorado express arrives 12.35 a. m. Henry Sherrer was a caller at the StAr office Monday. Mr. j. C. Weir claims to have the finest corn patch in 19-35.

Several of our citizens of late have been to Wa-Keeney on land business. Mr. West Moore reports a good run of business at his tonsofial establishment. Several choice relinquishments for sale very cheap by Talniadge Hoops; If you rant money to make final proof, call on K. S.

Howard. The Wichita County term of the district court adjourned last Friday evening. The Dr. Wilcox building -will be ready for occupancy some time next week. Wew cabbage ahd vegetables of all other kinds, are plenty in this market.

Go to the Palace t)rng Store for pure drugs and medicines. Mr. Geo. W. Hobbs came in from Decatur, 111., Tuesday, and will rest rind abide with Mr.

Cummins; of Ashland, brother-in-law of W. JV Chubbuck, is taking in the sights of Coro'nadd. The finest line of combs; brushes, soaps and sponges at Schilling's Palace Drug Store. Mr. Charles Leginger is on the sick list.

Billious fever is getting ih its work on him ill good shape. M. M. Singrhaster, of the Vendome; was out on his homestead the greater part of last week, doing the granger act. Is you want cheap school land, deeded land or relinhtiishments, go to Talinadge Hoops.

The bridge gang on the v. Hi A. moved their camp into this city Sunday.

They will soon have their work completed in this county. Mr. A. J. Fowlers residence in tile northwest part of the city, is nearing completion It is a neat and tasty structure.

Hare received a large stock of "horse-eatiegs" Saturday corn, bran, chops, and intend selling it at bottom figures. Coronado post office has been made a money order ofQce. The supplies will be on soon, when the patrons can be accommodated in that line. Many new residence and business houses will be erected as soon as the lumber yards get stocked with cheap building material. We don't suppose any of the fair daughters of Coronado, Will go to the to-morrow and vote for city oflicersj not because they are not 21 years old, (for we know they are and nearer 30,) but because it is peculiar in women; and single ones especially, to withold in dark oblivion their age, and you can't tell by looking at their teeth; or any other signs that we know of; We omitted to mention last week the festival held at the McKinney school house, southeast of here; last Saturday night a week.

Ice cream, cake, lemonade, was served, and good vocal ami instrumental music was in attendance; A goodly number of our citizens participated, and speak very highly of the hospitality of the people of that community: The proceeds netted something over 2.1 we are informed. We have a good farming bomniunity, well settled by an ener" getic, enterprising; rabnied class of farm? ers, and they would enjoy a good patronage. We are bound to have these branch3 es bf busiiiess ere long, and anyone look ing for an opening to engage either iri the boot and shoe; furniture or harness; wdtild do well to come to Coronado. Stage Competition. dn the 1st of the present month tL Southwestern Stage company ass-nuied contract to carry the mail from this point to Coronado, Wichita, county, and commenced the work. The former contract5 ing stage line, not being exactly pleased with this turn in th'o tide of affairs, cor tinues to run, and as a consequence competition has very mtieli reduced the fartf for passengers.

The usual fare for tha round ttip is but now only 25 cents charged by th Southwestern from her to Leoti or Coronado. The distance fifty miles, and this is rather cheap travJ eling, affording the investors in Wichita county soil an excellent chance to visifi that County and look after their invest ments. The managers of the Southwest em; which has been in existence about thirty years, and which operates probably about one hundred stage lines, in Texas.
