Douglas Vv. way a little to trade with your own people. Some advocate amalgamation of the races, but we think our women are good enough for any Negro man living or to be born. We can be as good as we please, or as bad as we please; let the Negro of the United States be numbered among the model races of mankind; let everyone to begin with, be ready to lend their aid toward the improvement and advancement of the race, and we never want to think, a Negro can not teach us. When God wanted a man to lead Israel he waited forty years, then raised up a Moses.

God did not inteno that any one race should govern or lead another, and any man who thinks we are not good enorg'i to eat in a restaurant or drink at a ar, or drink a glass of soda at a common drug store is a man who will not do us justice in the church, school room or any other place on the globe where we come in direct competition with him. Let the colored people establish grocery stores, bar rooms, restaurants and the like, and then let the rest of ss patronize these enterprises, thus enabling some of our people to give employment to others of the race. Spend your change with your own peaple and you will solve the race problem, for money thus properly expended is the only thing that will solve the race problem. BRALV LEAKS. Master Clair Harding, a four-months-old youngster, acted as mascot for the crowd, and at one time the little fellow was seen in Mr. Ike 's wagon with nine women and sixteen baskets of greens piled on top of him. The club met at the residence of Miss M.

I. A BIT OF RACE HISTORY. The first system of slave labor was introduced in Hispanola, West Indies in 1515. The Indians of this section refusing to be enslaved were exterminated. Then a shipload of genuine Guinea Negroes were kidnapped from Africa.

In seven years the Negroes revolted and their Spanish masters were in turn nearly exttrminated. This shows that pluck and a domina-timg courage must win. We speak again, who dares to enslave a man that would be free? Who is it that dares encroach upon any man's rights? The day has come that the American Negro must respect all men and demand the same in return. We have been clamoring for a chance. Weadmit that the trade and labor unions are against our people, but it is a fact that all men who want it, have some kind of occupation; can we save something and make employment for ogr people? For instance, in this city we have four thousand colored people.

We spend on an average of fity dollars per year for food, clothing ana mount in full aggregating two hundred thousand dollars. Suppose we could spenp this money with our own people? In ten years we would have some rich Negroes. The white man is not to be blamed altogether for the financial condition of the Negro; the Negro has one failing and a bad one too he is not satisfied to be called a Negro. The Dutchman doesn't mind being called a Dutchman, and will go out of his way to employ a Dutchman or to spend his money with him; an Irishman is proud of his name, a Swede is proud he is, a Swede, and so it is with every nation on earth except the Negro. The majority of the Negroes believe that we are the white man's inferiors and many of them believe that it is a crime to employ one of their race to do any professional services or work for them.

We speak for the Wichita people proudly for nine and oife half per cent of them do employ Negro physicians at least. If tne same ratio of Negroes would patronize a Negro grocery store, you can see to what we are coming. We will return to our original sub ject; the Negro wants to be everything but a Negro. The days of "Marse George" and "Miss Ann" are no more. It is no credit to a Negro to mimic; no one is responsible for his color.

We are proud of our black; we would not be a white man, because it might happen that we would be a poor white man, and when it comes to thaty we would just as soon be grand- WHY NOT GO TOURIST?
