A good number were present, and an entertaining programme was rendered. The performances by Miss Maud Murphy, Miss Grace Murphy, Miss Zoe Staub, Misses Carrie and Ella Rouse, were excellent and contributed largely to the pleasure of the evening. Last Sabbath morning the Rev. Kern preached to a large and appreciative audience on the subject of "Spiritual Development," and in the evening on the subject of "What shall we do with our girls?" The former is admitedly a sublime subject, and upon it depends the salvation of the human family. The latter is a practical one, but our answer to it is, the best thing to be done with a girl is, to marry her off to some man that will make her a good husband.

Illness in the home of Rev. Thorpe, of tlus city, prevented the Reverened gentleman from occupying the pulpit in the evening of last Sabbath. -On account of the death of Father MeCune, whose death we mention in another column, no services will be held in the Catholic church of this city. 1'he case of Hamilton and Gormley against John G. Woods occupied the attention of the district court this week and resulted in a verdict for plaintiffs.
