Some time ago I asked several questions of parties in this vicinity as as to what had become the money to paint our school the disposal of bridge lumber, and Mrs. Seary's school money. None of these questions have been answered. If the parties who drew that money do not know what has become of it, let them come out and say so; and if they do know, why not make it public so that the risidents of the district may know something about the way these matters are being managed, as they certainly have a right to.

I will say a few words Svith fefer-erence to the new district we have been trying to get set off. The fact is that as the district now stands some of the children have to travel five miles to the school house, while others live within a few rods. One man says: "children that cannot walk five miles a day for their schooling ought not to have any." I notice his children have less than 100 rods to walk though. It is only right that all 6hould have, as near as practicable, equal school facilities. This is the reason that we desire another district set off, and if the County Superintendent will, he can see that our de-mauds are just and should be complied with.

County and State, as well as the apportionment of the State school funds.

It is important that in electing officers, only such persons be elected as will work faithfully to promote the school interests of the district. In making the annual taxlevy for school purposes, let that tax be sufficient to support a good school; it will be better to have no school in the district than to pay half price for a poor teacher, such as each Board will have many opportunities to employ. None but the best teachers should be employed. The difference between good and poor teachers is far wider than the difference in their prices. It will be well for District Boards that have not a good teacher in view, to visit the Normal Institute and consult the conductor and instructors as to who are good teachers.

I must insist that Boards do not employ teachers until they have procured certificates; in many embarrassment will thus be saved both to teacher and the school board. There is too much difference in wages in favor of male teachers in this county. A female teacher can procure but little more than half the wages that a male teacher of the same grade secures. This is unjust; our best primary teachers are female teachers, and if they perform the same amount of labor in the school room that a male teacher does, they should receive the same compensation. The school houses should be put in order and all needed fuel, aparatus and fixtures provided before the school opens.
