The Mission Stars defeated the Erie American Legion basket ball team ut St. Paul Wednesday evening of this, week by a score of 22 to 14. Irey, John Casey and Walter Chappell of this county met with the commissioners from Wilson county last Friday afternoon and decided to build a bridge across Turkey creek at the county lines, northwest of Chanute. Miss May Cain, state rural school supervisor, spent Monday and Tuesday with County Supt. Suslo Berry visiting the rural schools In Neosho county, Miss Cain wanted to Inspect the poorest schools as well as the schools that are working for standardisation.

With the expenditure of one hundred dollars or less, a number of our schools may be made Btandard schools this year. Miss Cain classed several schools In our county the poorest in the state as to the buildings and equipment. We are working for better rural schools, as the majority of the high school students enter from tha rural schools. Kyle received a message from Wichita Falls, Texas, Monday stating that their son, Arthur Kyle, was very low and for them to come at once. They left that evening and arrived In Wichita Falls Tuesday evening and In a7 letter received from them yesterday they utate that they found Arthur in a serious condition. His trouble is brain trouble, bordering on spinal meningitis, and while he was still unconscious when the letter was written he had commenced to show signs of rallying and the attending physicians and nurse assured Mr. and Mrs. Kyle that he was a great deal better than he had been and entertained big hopes for his recovery.

Arthur is one of the best young men ever sent out from Erie and he has been making good in the oil game and his many friends here as well as the many friends of his wife and parents will join The Record in hoping that his recovery will be quick and PHONE 234. 227 tion. The rural schools should train for thoroughness and efficiency, as the basic principle underlying all the work of the school Is tho training that will function in life. Higher standards for teachers are required, but the best teacher will be handicapped and unable to give satisfactory service in a poorly equipped school. If the school house is old dilapidated and a disgrace to the (lis trict it is a reflection on every resident in the district, as each one should take pride in the district school and strive to make it the best in the county.

May 31, being 6S years, 9 months, 10 days old. She was united in marriage with Marlon Bundy on the 19th of March, 1873; in Jonesville, Va. Four children blessed this union, Robert Sheridan died In childhood; Mary Edna of Kansas City and Nora Vestal, who have been by her side continually the past 13 months and who so faithfully administered her every need.

Mrs. Bundy was one of the pioneers of Neosho county, having moved to Kansas in 1S7S and shortly afterward moved to the home where she spent all of her married life Just east of Stark. Her life was made beautiful by her many sacrifices for the happiness of those around her. The dark shadows were- lifted by her trust in her Saviour and the last few months have been peaceful and many prayerful hours have" been beautified by the blessed promises on which she rested and she so sweetly closed her eyes and departed this life at one o'clock In the morning of Feb. 10, 1922.
