The literary at the school house next Saturday night promises to be very interesting. The committee has taken great pains in preparing the progra.ii, and everybody should attend. George Stanton has been putting rods and braces on his house this week. George says he Intends to protect himself against the Kansas zephyrs "if there is any virtue in bolts and bars." We are in receipfof the Oklahoma Review, published by the Rock Island railroad company. The Review is a neat little journal and gives a glowing description of the "Land of Milk and Honey." Mrs W.

P. Archer and sons Roy and Seth who have been visiting relatives in the county for the past fe months, took their departure Saturday for New Mexico; where they will make their future home. George Hughs was in town Monday. It was the first time we had seen him in many days, and we were afraid the Oklahoma fever had struck him, but he says he is putting in a crop and wants to be counted among the "stayers." The crops in southwest Kansas, so far as we have seen and hcaid, are in excellent condition. The wheat presents a good appearance, the ground is in good condition for the coming corn crop and the farmer smiles at his prospect for a big harvest this fall.

The story told at Taloga by Will Niles that a man in the northeast part of the plowed his land eighteen inches deep, is vouched for by Mr. Whitman, whom, we believe was an eye witness. And the Taloga boys have no reasou to doubt Mr, Niles' statement. W. II.

Bruner, whose farm adjoins town on the south, informs us that he has over seven hundred growing cottonwood trees, frour hundred of which were cut from a single tree last spring. Mr. Bruner will have one of the nicest farms in south west Kansas, eie many years. We understand the Taloga Star contemplates getting out a boom edi-tif to be destributed among the disappointed land seekers in Oklahoma. This is a good scheme and we hope Harry will succed and make lots of money out of the enterprise, as well as do a good work for Taloga.

W. L. Tenbrook, who located south of the Cimarron a year or so ago and went back to Missouri to winter, has returned prepared to stay. He says there is more work beingdone and better prospects for a crop in Morton county than any place on the road, this side of Mar-rion NOTICE TIMBER As a choice of evils, a wefl bbivei blizzard boat a whilei fog.
