W. Chalson of Stevens county, delivered two loads of broomcorn here, this week, that were worth $145. is called to perform the marriage ceremony and walks off with a $10 bill in his pocket for bis trouble. The editor is again called upon to chronicle this event by drawing on his imagination to make the bride and groom the best and most respectable people people in the county. His only j-ay is to be asked for a few extra copies of his paper to send some absent friends.

In time the once baby, once happy groom, but now a man well advanced in years, is brought down by death. Again the physician is called in nnd mkes his bill; the is present and officiates at the funeral, and in time wants $100 for performing the last sad rites. The editor is expected to complete the drama by holding up the deceased for a model gentleman and who at present is flying up the golden stairs. The probabilities are that at the same time the baby, the groom and the dead man was so infernally stingy that he bod stinted his wife and children and had never contributed one cent to the support of the local paper. What does the editor get? He gets left.

Did you ever stand the postoffice and watch the expectant faci-s. Here comes a young girl, buoyant vith hope; who expects ii letter from an absent lover she fails to get it and- is as mad as a hornet. There stands a fellow who is afraid he will receive a dun. Yonder a mother comes, praying for a letter from her boy. So it goes; the postoffice is a place pf joy and hope, of disappointment and sadness.
