The election of a new central committee and delegates to Garden Citv mee's with the hearty approval ofevery republican, with the probable exception of one or two, in the county, but the. seeming greed for honor of these seven gentlemen ho assumed the responsibility of acting, without notice, for the etitirc republican party meets with justcondenination. There were many good members of the party who desired to lay their claims before the convention when called to elect delegates to the senatorial, state and Wichita conventions. Every republican has a right to advance his claims for any position or honor within the gift of the party, but this farce in the shape of electing delegates to these three important conventions has closed the bars upon numerous good and active men who doubtless were seeking recognition at the proper time.

The Courant worked earnestly for the uniting ofthetwo factions, and the result in this direction is gratifying to say the least, but having at heart the interests of the party of our adoption, we desire to be placed on record against schemes or tricks of a few political tricksters to run the party and select men to fill positions of honor and trust at their V. Seward county and southwestern Kansas was visiten again Tuesday by a refreshing rain. Early in the morning a slow, drizzling rain began to fall and continued throughout the day, with increased force during the night until early Wednesday morning. The farmers have about completed their spring planting and in every portion of the county, large fields of corn, just peeping through the ground, greet the eye of the traveler in his journey through favored western Kansas. The wheat crop never looked more flourishing in any county, and in fact all kinds of cereals are coming through the ground with rapidity that gladdens the heart of the weary farmer.
