Mr. Warkentin this week commenced work on his new elevator. It will be over sixty feet high, with a foundation 32x43 feet and a capacity of 50.000 bushels. The power will be furnished by 'cable connection with the engine room of the mills. this section was visited by a very heavy rain on Monday afternoon.

This spring, so far, has been exceedingly fa vorable to the growing wheat, and we predict that from the present outlook we will have the largest crop to harvest that has ever been known. We notice in the Burrton Monitor that the grain men of that city have 25,000 bushels of corn cribbed in that town. Why, Bro. Taylor, we can knock the stuffing out of that. There are at present about 45,000 bushels of corn cribbed in this citv for market.

We omitted last week to state that the closing exercises of the Fairview Literary Society occurred on Tuesday, March 25. A large attendance was present, and our friend J. S. Jester added much to the pleasure of the oc casion by his musical performances. A couple of traveling gentlemen were on our streets last Saturday afternoon also initiating them into the beauties and mysteries of the test of true lib erality." 21 A bold attempt was made on Sunday night about 10 o'clock to enter Hughes! restaurant in this citv. The rascal low-" ered the upper sash of a window, the noise of which aroused Mr. Hughes, whe came out into the store room to await developments. After accomplishing this much the thief made an effort to enter the room, when Mr. Hughes threw a weight at him through both sashes of the window and the scoundrel fled.

This is the third attempt of the kind recently, and as a remedy we would aid- vise the feeding of leaden pills in good doses, which we think would prove effectual.
