I ft a Somebody. Somebody's courting somebody, Somevjhere cr other to-night Somebody's whisp'riog to somebody, Souibody's liat'uing to somebody, Under this dear moonlight. Near ths bright rivers flow, Running so still arj slow, Talking so soft and low, She sits with somebody. Faoing ths ooean's shore, Edged by the foaming roar, Words, never breathed before, Sound sweet to somebody. No one sits up to wait Thougu she is out so late All know she's at the gate Talking with somebody.

Tip-toe to parlor door-Two shadows on the floor Moonlight reveals no more-Susy and somebody. Two sitting side by side, Float with the ebbing tide. "Tnus, dearest, may wo glide i Through life," saysjwni6body. Somewhere, somebody Makes love to somebody To night. When I Saw Sweet Nelly Home BY MARY i HANOI 1 K.TLK.

Our readers will agree with ns that th following lines are very line equally tender in sentiment ana melodious in rnyiuui la the sky the bright stars glittered, On the grass the moonlight fell, Hushed the sound ot daylights bustle, Closed tho "Pink-eyed 1'iraperneU," As ttdown the moss-giowu wood-path VVliere the cattle love to roam From Aunt Panic's uuilting party 1 was seeing Nelly hoiau. Jotty ringlets sottly fluttered O'er brow as white as snow And her cheek I ths crimson sunset Scarcely has a warmer glow. 'Mid her parted lips vermillion White teeth Uasiied like ocean foam All 1 marked with pulses throbbing, While 1 saw sweet Nelly horns. Wheu the Autumn tinged the greenwood, Turning ull itsleavos to gold, 111 the lawn, by alders shaded, 1 my love to Nelly told. As we stood together, gazing On the star-bespangled Uome, How I bloat the August evening Wheu 1 saw Bweet Nelly homo.

White hairs mingle withuiy trusses, fc'unowt steul upon uiy blow, But a love siuile cheers und'bltsses Lilo's declining iiiiiucrits now; Matron in the, snowy 'kerchief, Closer to my bosom oome Till uie, dost thou still remember When 1 saw eweot Nelly homo t'ur-tus wyandoit City Register. Jaljrlf, 6Sl.if. i II iiair Stone FOKsale i smnii or lares nuanlitlrs at ll i Quarry, at HTrandQit fem, by June It, S'. E'. ForsTth. the of not i We of in WYANDOTT CITY, JULY 85.

To Our City FrUndss Thosa, who have shown a disposition to share w(ih us some of the expense and bur. den of publishing a weekly paper in Wy an. dolt City, at a time when the job'wotk and advertizing patronage is scarcely any thing injtha way of support, on account of the newness of our city, and the undeveloped condition of our commerce, would do us a till greater favor by furnishing us with a iiljiames to whom they desire to send the Register. tyoruiTiUinSTow encunrjer' ed with thousands or papers done up tn wrappers and ready to be mailed, if we could only get in the lists of the friend to whom they intend to send the Register, so that wo cmld send them o(I regularly every week. Wt should be glad if our friends would remember that by sending out these papers this mass of accumulated reading matter it would benefit our city and pen liaps our business also.

We have applied for the lists until we have become ashamed to ask for Slusll we have them? To those friends of large means who are in arrears for subscription (our terms be ing cash,) we would say that our expenses are heavy and our necessities for ready money during the first quarter is greater than any other part efthe year. At the end of the first quarter we shall liegin la obtain money from our advertising customers. To those friends the amount is a small item, but to us it is a big and important one. Shall we havetu say more on this subject 1 we hope not. Shall the Press be Sustained? That is to us an imoortant question There are a large number of persoBs known as outside proprietors of Wysndott Ciiy, who have large interests in the prosperity of Wyandott, and many thare areolthatclass who have not done the first thing to sustain us in our enterprise.

We have an ardu' ous and hard roe to hoe, in the publication of the Register to the end of the first vol ume. There are others who are share holders in our city who have failed toman West any good will towards our undertaking and yet all will admit that in no way could the amount necessary to suMain a paper the first year, be expended, that would do half as much for our city, as a respectable conservative, high toned weekly journal We shall at any rate, go on and publish the Register, at all events to the end of the first volume, and let those poor narrow con traded souls who contribute nothing to wards its support filch the benefits which to them is so important and obtained at so cheap a rate, they are welcome to all they can spunge in that way from qsj wo say let (ham hat il. nr. 1, a n. Uitl.nrln Kliirt.ml losses and we expect with the Register to doit again, for the benefit of tho-ie who have neither the heart or capacity to iearn the advantages of a liberal press; we ma arwtryroxpBur'tu ffadTmry6oinmunliy some drone who live lor no purpose in particular and who never encourage enter prise.

WYANDOT CITY. There is no city on the Missouri river that can boast of so beautiful a situation, nor is there any point in Kansas that has' so brilliant a future as Wyandott We can now boast of a population of a thousand people and we are not five months old, we have now four new steam Saw mills just getting under way, so that our main obstacle (the want of framing lumber) will soon be we have three cr four brick yards, and soon we shall be able to have a good supply of brick, lime and stone in abundance, with timber of the bestqual ity at hand in a large body in every direction, with 150 new houses finished and many more underway. We say in view of these considerations and many others that we might mention, places our young city in point of natural advantages ahead of any town in Kansas and we might comment to advantage in favor of our exdlent har. bor furnished by the Kansas rier, but as we have not been disposed to pufTour city we will for the present forbear, and conclude by extending to all classes of citizens in search of profitable investments and a good point for any and all kind of trade to come to Wyandott and look at our position and then decide, which is the best point for investment at present in rrom a residence, and a pretty through 'knowledge of Kansas, we do not hesitate to say Wyandott is the place. THE THAYER FAMILY.

On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings iast, cur citizens had the pleasure to see and fliear the inimitable Tfcayer family. They discoursed charmingly with their well raihed sweet voices and theif performance as a Brass Band deserves more than ordinary commendation and praise at our hands; we are notable to make mention of the ladies in other than goneral praise u'r mey all and each perlormed admirable the parts respectively assigned them by the Programme, while the little Brother only thirteen year old, alike with good taste and rare musical genous, lost none of his well deserved reputation. We wish thena every n.aii3Hs, ana we tune pleasure in announcing that Kansas is likely to be. come the future home of the family, so that in the course of events it is pretty sure that Miss Louise, Miss Rosalie, Miss Pauline and Miss Josephine, will become the happy wives of some of our people who feel that music hath its charms as well as beau ty has, and both combined render married life not only desirable but inevitable, they are capable of doing much (or their coum try in this way, and we doubt not, they have the patriotism to do it. They have gone to play for the rebellionists and the army at Lawrence, perhaps they will visit Toptka and then go to Lesveuwjrth City, where we think they ghoulj receive a lib- patronage.

In their songs all trades and ans will get lubbed a liule, to the ni oi au who go iu uearthera. or sort seems possible which would be to fol low Sidnoy Smith's example viz: "take off his flesh and sit in his bones." But the weather is the most absorbing topio of late, not of choice but necessity. When the thermometer is at 103 or 105 in the very coolest or most comfortable nooks, the consideration of that subject Is absolutely forced upon us. To be or not; to be seems the only question and if present in clination only were, consulted, the answer would be almost unanimous in the nega tive. The' only consolation that suggests itself is that this is the penalty we must pay for wild 5 winter, lovely autumn or balmy spring according to Emerson the principle of compensation is universal, Hence, let us assume fortitude to rsar the evil which now weighs so heavily upon us confident that a corresponding blessing will be sure to follow.

(tj-We copy from the Orleans 2V. Y.1 Republican the subjoined notice of our nearest neighbors, Messrs. Davis Post, and from our acquaintance with them we think the complimentary notice not undo rved, baring their Democracy, which by the way is' not so bad after all; for we regard them as good free State men at heart, and whether the lash of party could make them go the nigger, is questionable. 'A. C.

Davis, Inthe Kansas let. ters recently published by us, mention has several times been made ot the gentleman whose name heads this paragraph, tor the information of his many friends who are readers of our columns, we take the liberty of saying that his position in Kansas is one highly creditable and satisfactory. He is a member ot a uanking and Heal Estate firm of wide connections, located at Wyandott, K. and is. identified as one either of the original proprietors, or early shareholders in many ot the most promising town sites in the i ernioiy.

This branch of the business is under the more immediate supervision of his partner, Mr. P. S. Post, Mr. Davis giving his alten tion mainly to the practice of his profes sion tho law in the hiuher walks of which his thorough reading, commanding abilities and unflagging zeal will enable him to distinguish himself.

Of course Mr. D. is" a democrat any OBe who has lis. tened to a speech from him will be con vinced ilmt lie is a democrat unon nrinci. pfe, and wTion the purty luTvaiisas shall be fairly organized it will recognize in him one of its most earnest and most eloquent chaninions.

Should any ot our friends wish to embark in Kansas speculations we commend the firm of Davis ii Post to their By an advertisement in another column of our paper, it will be seen that Mr. Davis proposes taking his place as an advocate at the Kansas He was formerly a member of the Albany N. I. Bar, and member of one of the best legal firms in that State. ftjr We feel, every disposition to be ae commodating.

but we must hereafter, for all Job Work done in this othce, adhere strict ly to the cash system. Paper, ink and hands are all cash articles, 0 We hav received at this office two Shares in the town of Chilton, to be sold at low. I jS on account of one of th proprietors. 03r The necessity of our attention to our business connected with tlie Register rendered it impossible for us to attend the late Topeka Convention as a Delegate, but as every thing turned out right we need of. fer no excuse for our absence, soon we suppose a County Convention for the nomination of Representatives and Senators under the State government, will be called and under the Territorial Law; when the time comes, we trust none but sound relia.

ble men will be nominated, let the old guard look to it, matters of the very first importance will have to be handled by those that may be nominated and elected and hence the nominations are of the first importance, and we trust will receive a proper consideration by the Free Stale party of our county'.
