Those Dreadful Twins dishes and cleared away the tab Helping Our Town Friday Was the Last Day of School For the Grades Friday was the last day of school for the grades and the parents and teachers made a combined effort to make the day pleasant for the youngsters and they succeeded admirably. Good Crowd Here Saturday long line of cars parked on the main streets of our town last Saturday was a strong testimonial to the prosperity of our farmers. And it also spoke volumes to the popularity of our merchants.

Our town is jus, now getting into aposition to do some rapid growing our business men mind their p's and q's. What we want to do is to lay aside our isims and prejudices and all get into the collar for a long steady pull together." We have no use for the man who cannot work in harmony with his fellow men. It is a certainity that we cannot by Enrollment At Emporia Enrollment figures for, the Kansas Normal at Emporia have amounted this year to a grand total of 3707, according to figures just issued by Registrar W. S. Bixler.

This gives Kansas the largest Normal school in the United States. The year's enrollment shows a gain of 490 or about 14 per cent, over the last year's figures of 3217. The enrollment by classes is: College 2168 of which 57 graduate; seniors, 141; juniors, 219; sophomores, 558; freshman, 1193. The High School has: seniors, 183, juniors, 16G; sophomores, 132; freshmen, 149; a total of 630. The training school has 289; music, 104; unclassified and irregular.

John Neiman, Fred Tim pe, Mart Decker and Sam Watson were in Easton Thursday looking over the grade building of our school getting pointers for their new building. The first three men named comprise the board of district No. 6. The regular Services Sunday morning and night.

The sports and games. Prizes were given to the winners by the" teachers and many a childish heart was made glad by its wner winning a bran new base ball bat or a fountain pen. At noon the men folks of the district began to gather in for the feast which their wives had spread on three long tables extending the full lengbt of the big room. The children were given the first chance at the tables. It was a pleasant sight to see the little folks eat.

After the game the pupils rend ered an excellent program con sisting of songs and speeches interspersed with amusing dialogues. After a day of feasting, fun and frolic, parents and pupils bid good bye to teachers and went home with a more kindly feeling for their playmates, friendsand neighbors. The value of such gathering in any community is to great to be estimated in dollars and cents. Those who failed to come and take part have missed a real geniune treat. The teachers Jos.

Cahill, Soph ia Knappand Margaret Muncil have the good will of the entire district and the only sad thing about the occasion was the part ing from them by the pupils. The school board feels that these three popular people did every thing in their power to make the past term of school a success. A Surprise Party A Surprise Birthday Party was given to Miss Opal Potter on Saturday evening by- a number of her friends, The evening was spent in various amusements and refreshments were served in the later part of the evening. Select a Building Site At the annual district meeting the school board, of the Oskaloosa School was directed to purchase the tract of land owned by the Fair Association for a building site. This- tract comprises something more than seven acres ai lies just at the north edge of town. The immediate use that will be made of it will be for a place to hold the tract meets May 12 and 13, and it will be put in shape for this soon. In years past the last day of school came, and teachers and pupils took their books and departed for home, leaving the schoolyard strewn, with sticks and stones and anything the children might have at their play The school room, was left in an untidy condition.
