Kate E. Callahan was born in Ha vana, N. in 1857. Her early girl hood was passed with her parents, in that section of the state, during which time she received a liberal education at Forest villef and at Ann Arbor, ich. She taught school for a number of terms, and while engaged in this calling at Shipinan, 111., first met T.

W. Pelhara, whom she married, after removing with her parents to Wellington, this state. She and her husband then removed to Denver, where the latter filled the position of superintendent of the Dcn-ver Circle railroad for about a year, when he resigned and returned to Wellington. From there they came to Leoti about two years ago, since which time they have taken a leading part in business and social circles of Leoti society. Mrs.

Pelham was a devoted" wife and mother, a loving daughter, art affectionate sister, and a kind neighbor. Her loss will be deeply felt by the entire community, who truly sympatliize with the bereaved husband and tbe sweet little child left motherless at soch an early age, as also the father and brother, he only members of her family remaining. home, on the Beaver, Saturday, Detf ember 10th, 1887, aged 22 years, 9 months and 15 days, after a short attack of fever. Two months and a half ago she was married to Sam Rho defer, one of the early settlers in this county, and it seems doubly hard that her life should be cut short just as the fulness of its pleasures seemed opened out to her. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev.

Williams at the M. E. church in this city, Sunday after noon, after which her remains were tenderly laid away in the I. O. O.
