itonriixs. Commissioner 1st W.ALLEN. THE UKITBUCAS XO.MIXEKX. In another column will be found the Republican ticket nominated last Monday by the convention at We have no reason for saying any thin other than the convention placed in the field a ticket that should receive the united and cheerful sup jort of the Republican party in this ty. The defeated candidates -are Hien who would have filled the positions just as ably and faithfully the successtul candidates.

Mr. P. Hill, the defeated candidate treasurer, is the same brave old soldier, patriot, honest farmer, and thorough business man uovv as be fore the convention. His friends all honorable means to secure his nomination, but he was fairly honestly defeated by a man younger in years, but older in expo rience in the management of the county's funds. Ueing a staunch Republican Mr.

Hill will support the entire Kepubliean ticket with renewed visror. Mr. Backus failed to secure the nomination for sheriff as Mr.Hill for treasurer. He made an honorable contest and failed. He is not the Republican to conspire to defeat the nominees of the convention.

Mr. Vanderlip was before the convention seeking the nomination for sheriff, and was floored: Pete Tcrl-vfv'rr A. H. Judd and John Travis each had their friends, but the first ballot showed to be below par. The nomination for treasurer had downed all three of them.

Notwithstanding his "Waterloo defeat, Pete's sonorous voice will be heard throughout the entire length breadth of the county, between now and election da, in behalf of Republican ticket. If Mr. Travis Mr. Judd are not heard from it is because of negligence in younger days to train themselves for public speakers. The successful nominee for treasurer is known by nearly every resident taxpayer of Rooks county, and each of them are fully able tw form an opinion on what they know from their own personal knowledge.

If the voter and taxpayer do not know who he is we suggest that you call at the office of county treasurer of Rooks county at There yon will be greeted by a young man about 30 years of age; unassuming obliging; of pleasing address; and accurate in discharging the duties as deputy treasurer; strictly temperate in Lis habits; of un blemished character; of unquestioned this is the Republican jiominee for county treasurer, George X. Mickel. We believe that thousands of taxpayers who have transacted business with Mr. Mickel as deputy will vote, regardless of party, lo elevate hint to the position of treasurer. J.

T. hinith, present county clerk, was renominated by acclamation. Mr. Smith has justly earned this unqualified recognition, and no man, or alive, can defeat him at the polls. Jlemy A.
