had been expected for some time. Yi'hcn the advance guard of the pop convention headed for the school house Saturday afternoon, they met W. J. McPeak on his way down town with a vinegar jug under his arm. A number of the faithful turned and followed Mr.

McPeak, and it was with considerable difficult after this incident occured that the managers succeeded in getting a bak er's dozen up to the convention. It is barely possibly that a basis for the claim they have made that it was a democratic convention. The populist county convention did not pass any "whereases" and consequently did not furnish a sulTering public with their reasons for the advance in all kinds of farm products. Mr. Bryan and the populists said last fall that what wa3 needed to raise the price of farm products was more money.

An enlarge ment of the currency of the coun try by the adoption of free silver 16 to 1 would, they said, raise the price of ALL commodities. The contraction of the currency by the continuation of the gold standard would force prices down. This was their argument last fall and they want deny it. Now that everything is on the upward move, an explanation would be interesting. HARRISON NOTES.
