T. J. Foley has opened up a first-class, temperance billard hall at his old place. The nice weather is starting the wheat so that it looks much more promising. M.P.

Sanborn is building a new house for Mr. Anderson, living northeast of town. Mr. Frank Stearns is in the southern part of the state looking up a location tor a stock-ranch. Mr.

0. M. Jackman is having good success in the insurance business in the north part of the state. Mrs. Josiah Reed, has opened up her restaurant and will keep on hand everything in that line.

F. P. Lillie has a new soda-water generator, and will soon be ready to deal out that refreshing liquid. Mr. Wm.

Sheldon is rapidly improving under Dr. Gunn's treatment, and will soon be able to be about. The IT. P. Railroad Co.

is putting a fresh coat of paint on the depot, Windmill, water-tank, at this place. The Congregational social will meet at the Chapman Central, Friday evening of this week. Everyone is invited to attend. I. Knouff and J.

R. Wilson, two lightning-rod boys, called on Monday. They can corral more lightning than any one. Mr. Win.

Mitchell and wife will spend a few months in Cowley county visiting friends, and enjoying a general vacation. Mrs. Wilson and daughter, who are at Mrs. W. T.

Jones', will return to their me in Anderson county, the last of the week. The II. E. social will meet at Rev. Wilson's on Tuesday evening.

Every one is cordially invited to attend, and will be made welcome. J. C. Sparks, and E. E.

Sparks, are doing the paint work on John Taylor's new residence. This is one of the liuest buildings in the county. J.W. Hart, editor of the Abilene Chronicle, ailed to see us last- week. Mr.

Hart is running a splendid paper, and deserves the good support he is receiving. Mr. J. W. Bowman has been erecting a tower upon J.

S. Ilollinger's house. Mr. Ilolliuger is contemplating the erection of an elegant new brick or stone residence in the ne.rr future. Mr.

J. E. Martin and his folks moved to Chapman on Monday, of this week Mr. Martin, operates a tirst-class bank and is doing a good business. Our people are all glad he has located permanently with us.

A caucus for the nomination of candidates to be elected to lill the city offices, will be held in he north-side skating rink, on Friday evening, April 3rd. Every voter should be present. Don't forget the time. On Wednesday afternoon there came very near being a big blaze. Some naner.

Lillie Co. While Mr. J. C. Scott was driving some fat hogs to the stock yards one evening during the week, he ran into a barbed wire fence making a Bevere wound in his shoulder and damaging his clothing considerable.
