The Plaindealer at St. Francis has changed hands, L. E. Humphrey having sold out to Carter Bridgford. The new men are both democrats and as long as the democratic party is in the land office we predict they will nourish.

They are good fellows and we wish them success, We have received several letters the past week asking such as, "will corn grow, in your part of Does it rain enough to produce crops without irrigation?" and lots of other such questions. In regard to this matter we would just say that corn has been a splendid crop in this country the past yeajs, and that the prospects are splendid Tor next year? We do not need to irrigate out here any more than you do Iowa or Illinois. It lias purchased the town site and from now on under the auspices of the new management we expect to boom. The best countries in the world are pronounced by some cranks as a place of no good, and that the country never has nor will amount to any thing.

The other day were reading in an eastern exchange about a man that had been out to the western part of Sherman county, Kansas, and he said Kansas was dried out, aud the' paper advised every one around there to give Kansas a wide bert h. It will surprise bur Sherman county neighbors to learn they had a drouth there this last summer, but the man that got homesick and went back to btaardy Iowa tells his friends that such is the case, and they believe it and the newspapers bafck there seem to glory in publishing it. They do not stop to think that perhaps the man stole a horse or something and was forced to leave the country, or got homesick and imagined any thing and cared only to get back to the place he came from where ho could sit around a nd tell his cronies about his experience in the "wild west." If a man. perfectly honest, goes east atid tells the truth about this part of the world they think he is lying and say lie is a real estate agent and wants to beat some one. If lots of the people in the east would leave there and come to Kansas and get themselves a home and stay with the country, in a few years they would be comfortably fixed and have a good home, while If they stay in the east the will always rent a place and never have a home they can call their own.

and will always be one of the poor class. Even if they are poor in this country it is not so hard for lots of your neighbors are poor too, and you are as good as the rest, and if you stay where you are you ill always be at the bottom of the ladder trying to get a start, but you will never succeed unless you take Greely's advice AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS. 1IOKA1K TIirilMAN, i.
