Newton, Kansas, Sept 8, 1913. C. W. Miller, Hays, Kansas, Dear Sir: I notice in "Clark's Occasional" mention of your candidacy for lieutenant governor. I beg to advise that I am for you.

U. W. The announcement in the last Occasional of the probable candidcy of C. W. Reeder for judge of the 23rd judicial district, seems to have met with general favor.

Mr. Reeder is considered one of the leading lawyers of the district, is an excellent citizen, and a man well equipped for the office. We hope to see him get the nomination. A nomination will most likely mean an election. "Load, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom, Lead Thou me on: The night is dark and I am far from home, Lead Thou me on! Keep Thou my feet! I do not care to see The distant scene; one step's enough for me." Downing and wife returned last week from a visit to old friends and relatives in Missouri Iowa and Illinois. They were absent from home about seven weeks. 1 hough they enjoyed every minute of the time during their absence, yet they were glad to get back and once more breathe the pure and invigorating ozone of sunny Kansas. A large number of Hays people attended the fair at Russell last week, and they report it a complete success. On Friday it is estimated that there were seven or eight thousand people present.

There seemed to have been but one disappointmenton account of the inability of the airship to make a flight, owing to tbe high wind. It would seem that Ellis county which is just as prosperous as Russell could organize and conduct a fair with equal success. Why not try it? The newspapers of the county, we are certain, would give the scheme all the publicity mecessary, gratis. HAYS FULL AKD ELEVATOR CO. ft -4 mm What Pleases a housewife better than a good Loaf of Bread?
