The town is to be built on the site now occupied by Blackwell, and the name changed to "Parker," in honor of C. H. Parker, of this city. Matilda Fletcher lectured in Burrton a few evenings ago on the all-absorbing topic, "Is Man an Angel?" Wonder which side of the question Rev. Williams takes.

As Matilda is still called a "Miss" we doubt her ability to judge correctly on this question. Wm. Nutting, who killed Lang-lois in Hunnewell last week, is now in jail Wellington. His head is still cracked and he is in a bad condition. Lindly will not have much trouble to keep him from running away for some time, at least.

DIED. Dr. John Berger died at his home in Derby, Feb. 24, 1894, aged 55 years and one month. He came to Kansas from Warren county, Iowa, in 1872, in company with his father, and settled on a claim east of Mulvane.

In connection with improving his claim he practiced medicine. Since leaving the larm he has lived in Udall, Clearwater, Elk county and in Derby, in all of which piaces he practiced his profession. He was a member of the A. O. U.

W. at Udall. His principal disease was bronchitis. His body was buried at the Gams cemetery, seven miles east of Derby, on Sunday, the 25th mst It was the intention of the Udall Workmen to take charge of the funeral, but on account of a misunderstanding they did not come. About a dozen of the Workmen went from Mulvane and conducted the funeral according to the ritual of the oider.
