E. 1, Amer One thing was noticeable. Everyone wanted to sell out, and every body in town or out was anxiously watching the northern sucker. The eastern tourists make the cities of California, and the northern "suckers" finance Flor. ida cities.

The climate is wonderfully pleasant and enjoyable in the winter, but the accessories that go with it in the summertime are unbearable to a northern man. The mosquitoes are a hungry set, and there are not enough people down there for them to make a living off from. They work in shifts of four hours each, six shifts during the day and night, and each shift works over time. One man told the old story of his escape. He climbed into an old deserted steam boiler that had been used in a saw mill in one of the lumber camps, and as the mosquitoes stuck their bills through it in a search for him, he clinched them on the under side, until their numbers became so great thatthey flew north with him, boiler and all, where they froze to death and he made his miraculous escape.
