A Romantic Story. A Memphis paper has quite a touching story of conjugal affection. Some ten years ago, a young couple married, and at the end of a year, after the birth of a daughter, they separated and a divorce was Obtained. For nine long years they never saw or heard from, or spoke to eacli other. The little girl was taught to believe that her" father was dead.

al. Extent of the Feriiari Movement in Ireland. From the London Times. Thore is no longer any doubt that this conspiracy has spread its meshes across the entire soil and that there is no county, however loyal, no city, however prosperous, no district, however divided between native and imported races, where we may not expect to hear of "head centres," secret drilling and the manufacture of arms. It is not to be imagined that the Irish magistracy and police have not a clue to every part of.

a conspiracy wljlch depends upon communication with a foreign and a home "centre," upon personal co-operation and regular meetings, and not loss upon supplies of bulky material. But the discoveries themselves prove that thVconspiracy is everywhere. To the English apprehension; the presence of the conspiracy in the army, and the discovery of a score of soldiers actually engaged in it, is by far the worst part of the business, and has a very ugly aspect. It is not a trifle. The loyal soldier, who beside the enemy he meets face to face, has one at his elbow and another at his back.

Should the worst fears be realized, and should we have to meet Ibis treacherous foe in the open field, or in the intricacies of street warfare, it is of the first importance that the loyal soldier should be able to trust his own comrades and rely upon their support. But if a good many of those comrades have taken the Fenian oath, and have been tampering with treason for months, they can only be a weakness in the day of trial, even if they do not prove actual traitors. It is evident that if Fenianism is not "stamped out," as they say of another plague, it will spread, for it is a question, not of reason, but of impunity. Plant Trees.
