Gracie Feme Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Geo. I. Brown, was born near Columbus, Cherokee county, Kansas, June 28, 1891. Later the family moved to Republic county and at the age of ten years she moved with her parents to a farm in Sheridan county where 'she Resided until that grim visitor, Death, entered the home on October 27th, and claimed this young life.

It is indeed sad to see one' so rudely taken from the home just when the young life had begun to grow into sweet womanhood. During a sickness, covering a period of four years, she was always patient and cheerful. She was a regular attendant at church and Sunday school, always having good lessons, evidencing her love for her Biblewhich, as her strenghth failed her, came to be more and more of a comfort to her. She was converted and gave herself fully to the Lord during a revival meeting held by Rev. J.

M. Miller at McGraw, the autumn of 1907. Naturally of a quiet disposition, she still showed plainly by her life that the spirit of her Master was her daily guide. Knowing that, for her, life was short and Eternity near, she said to her sisters: "Should there come a time when you want to sing something sing, 'New Life is Mine' and Well beloved by all, a favorite at school, a true friend, a loving daughter and sister, she will be greatly missed. 1 She leaves behind to mourn her departure her father, mother, six sisters, and one brother, beside many other relatives and friends.

Rev. J. M. Miller, formerly pastor at this place, -was called from Prairie View, Kansas, to conduct the funeral services which were held at the Methodist church at eleven o'clock, Saturday, October 29th. The members of her graduating class followed the remains as they were slowly taken to that Silent City where they now rest in eternal sleep.

Elgin, the Dresden dray man, was a social caller Friday at "this office, he handed us a dollar Save Time and Money The following notice now appears on the stationery of most large business houses: do not give receipts to customers paying accounts by check." Do you know what this means? Simply that the business world appreciates the fact that their endorsement on the check is the best receipt they can give and further the time required making out the receipt is saved and the expense of -mailing it is eliminated.

The saving of time and expense is the strife of the modern business world. The short, inexpensive, yet accurate and complete plan, is the one adopted by the commercial world today. Mr. Business Man, you cannot afford to let any labor saving or money saving plans escape you. Place your funds in this bank and adopt the above plan at once.
