''EC. PHARES, Manager. HERE YOU ARE HERE YOU ARE! HERE YOU YOU ARE The undersigned take pleasure in Valley that tltoy now have on hand a full and complete line of Staple iFancy Groceries, FLOUR, FEED, ETC, Which we are prepared to sell 1 AT THE LOWEST We think we know the needs of the endeavor to keep just such goods as they desire. We Deliver to a.17 part oi tie Cily, Frea oi Clarge, all Goois Bonilit of ns. been rumors afloat that a new town-was to be started -about half way be tween Sharon and Medioine Lodge, but the idea seemed so ridiculous on its face that we paid but little' attention to the matter. However, it seem? that a party calling himself Col.

Hkk-; ock, from Pettis county pitf' chased a farm of P. B. Cole, through which the railroad runs, and is laying1 it off into town lots, each alternate one of which is being given away to par ties who will erect buildings 'thereon. A relative of the Colonel's has' alto donated $6,000 for the erection of union church building, and work will begin at The "future great" is christened Cole City, in honor of P. B.

Cole, and that in itself is enough to ensure the success'(?) of the city une singular teature ot the whole dusi--ness is, that all parties who erect build-' ings must roof them with corrugated iron. From this we.should judge thaf our friend Hickock is either' owner 'of an an iron foundry, or is agent for 6pe and has taken this method of getting rid of a lot of surplus corrugated iron Further developements artJ awaited with breathless expectancy. A LAST WORD TO SUBSCEIEEES. We have a large number of accounts due us on subscription, ranging in amount all the way from forty cents to three dollars, andf scattered over a. large territory.

As a matter of course one item of fifty "cents or one dollar does not aniount to very much in itself, but think for a moment "how hundreds of such amounts will count -up, and how seriously it would embarrass us to lose a portion of them! Now, as this is" the' last issue of the News, we want to impress upon the minds of those in arrears that we want and must have what is due us, and tru3t4hat -wU eaJ.WithtB-v4heT.ext- few days and pay up. It they do not do so, the "accounts will be placed in the hands of an attorney with jnstruc-. tions to collect the same by law, if necessary. We are compelled to get our affairs here in shape just as soon as possible, so please don't delay this matter but come in at once. The mercantile firm of Byerly, Dark Runyan, at Medicine, have, in connection with John Higgins, completed arrangements' for the, erection of a large two story brick block in which to place, their immense stock of goods.

We are pleased tq know that this firrri is prospering, fqr the men composing 1t arcamong the most gentlemanly, trustworthy and reliable in southern Kansas. Their business is constantly on the increase, and the reason is that people place perfect reliance in what they say, and if a five year old child is sent to make a purchase, it yill receive the same consideration at their hands as the parents themselves would. iucy uisu seep me yery oest goods in the market, sell them at the lowest jiving prices, and these statements can be implicitly relied on. Byerly, Dark Runyan have a host of friends in this valley, and they are constantly gaining more. The Sharon News comes to us this week for an exchange.

It is rather a sad duty that devolves upon us topay, That of writing the obituary of our own paper, but circumstances over which we have absolutely no control, makes this step For some time we have realized that a change must take place, and had it not been for the fact that we disliked to leave a pleasant little home, we should have suspended pub- ication of the News some time ago, for certainly it has not payed us to stay here. We go away feeling that we have done all for Sharon and surrounding country that a man with limited means could do, and while our course in many things has offended some, still we have never intentionally done any individual an injury, and in our busl ness relations with the people of Sharon, we have always attempted to dea on the square with all. With perhaps two or three exceptions, those in busi ness here have done what they could to sustain the paper, but they themselves are not overburdened with wealth. The printing material of the News will be locked up until such time as we can dispose of it, or use it in the establishment of a paper at some other point. As for ourself, we haye been offered a lucrative position on Lieut Governor Riddle's paper, the Minne apolis Messenger, and shall leave for that place in a short time, In conclusion we desire to kindly Ciauk laose business wen who havrsO nobly stood by us since we haye been in Sharon, and we shall long hold them in greatful remembrance for the many shown.

They are in pleasing contrast to those parties who have stood around on the streets and publicly stated that a newspaper was of no benefit to a town, but rather an unnecessary expense. Everybody can name the men at once Withjsiich a spir it predominating, no town on God's green earth could grow and prosper With these few explanatory remarks we bid our readers good by, "it may be for years, and it may be forever. Something over two years ago Tel Walton, brother of Wirt Walton, who recently killed near Junction City, was, arrested on the charge of setting fire to a printing office in the Oklahoma country. The case came, up for trial at Wichita this week, and Mr. Walton was discharged, there being no evi dence that he commuted arson.

It was a case of'spite work. 1 Everything now points to the fyct that Frank tjolmes will tie nominated for Clerk of the Pistrict Court by acclimation, no one having had the temerity to appear as a candidate against him, Tli is is as it should be, for had there been two or three Republicans wanting the office badly, it might per-haps have created a division in the party that would have given the office to a Democrat. As it is. Mr. Holmes has clear sailing.

The IT. P. management have seen fit to discharge the engineer of the locomotive on which Wirt Walton was riding at the time he met his death. It seems to us. that this is one of the meanest things a railroad company could be guilty cf, for there is no question but that Mr.

Walton told the engineer it would be a great treat to be allowed to ride in the cab, and being editor of an influential paper, an ex member of the Legislature, and a prominent man generally, his request, was granted. Nine out of every ten men would have done the same but the accident occurred and the engin eer was discharged, notwithstanding that the brave fellow was severely calded in his efforts to release lit. Walton from his perilous posiuun. announcing to the people of Sharon LIVING PRICES. farmers of this section, and will NOTICE FOB PUBLICATION.
