Mrs. Duvall, has been to Han- SNAP SHOTS. non, the past week at the An accident that might have resulted fatally happened Saturday afternoon to Miss Dora Adams, of Cottage Grove township. Miss Bertha Ball of Iola, had gone dewn Friday evening on the plug to spend a few days with her, Saturday they drove to Humboldt. On their road home in the afternoon two young men in a buggy drove up behind them and finally passed them.

In doing so a target rifle which the boys had in their hands was accidentally discharged, the ball penetrating the arm of Miss Adams. She screamed that she was shot and the boys stopped their team and did what they could for her. A hurried examination revealed that he was not fatally Injured but for all they knew the arm was so badly injured that amputation would be necessary. The boys started on home and the girls returned to Humboldt where they went at once to a doctor. An examination revealed that the ball had made but a flesh wound which, while painful, was not at all serious.

Taylor. II Stalil, of Whitehall, who bears tie honor of purchasing the first lots ever sold on the town site of Gas City, made the Herald office a pleasant call last monday, while enroute from Coffyville, Kansas, to his home. 'He still owns property here and will make some more investments in the near future. He thinks Gas City is improving faster than any town in Kansas, and we think he knows what he is talking about, The Herald will give him Gas City news at Whitehall. Col.

P. J. Stauberry and Mr Geo. W. Scott took a trip the past week to Iola, Gas City and Chanute, Kansas, to inspect the oil and gas districts.
