Priyett was the deputy assessor of Center Township and assessed their property that Mike Forrest and John Trent were appointed as members of the board of review of Center Township; that they did not change the Troy valuations as returned by Privett, but that the county commissioners appointed W. W. Minter and C. M. Finley as a board of review for the City of Troy and that they raised the valuations on the prop SI Some twenty people who brought the injunction suit two years ago that was decided last May, paid no tax, and lost nothing except the trouble of the suit, and attorney's fees.

Geo. H. Ebeling has brought a suit against the Board of County Commissioners and the county treasurer, trying to recover back $1558.25, Wolf River taxes paid by himself and fifteen other land owners along Wolf liver under the Leland laws of 1903 and 1907. The other landowners have assigned their claims to Ebeling, to sue on them.

Cyrus Leland, author of the original Wolf River laws, is one of those who have assigned to Mr. Ebeling his claim for taxes paid, amounting to $79.67. In the petition it is alleged that these Leland acts were unconstitutional and that the county board had no authority to act under them. In effect, Mr. Leland, the author of the law, is now seeking to recover taxes paid on the ground that the make none, and had made none this year.
