The Kansas Board of Agriculture, which the law requires to supervise the taking and compilation of the State's census each tenth year following 1875, has completed the tabulation of inhabitants as returned by the assessors for 1895 and below is given the results by counties, with the increase or decrease in each as compared with the enumeration of one year ago, Forty counties show an increase of from 11 to 4,144, aggregating 30,246, and sixty-one counties a decrease of 2 to 2,988, aggregating 33,909. The net decrease within the very trying year between March, 1894, and March, 1895, is shown to have been but After deducting all losses from all causes during that period the net increase in population since the State census of 1885 is found to be 60,138. William Sunney Joseph Bowers Justice. L. Leonard John McQuHtou Thomas Lynn George Barker The Santa Fe Sale. The Atchison, Topeka Santa Fe Railroad will be sold at the Topeka depot at 2 o'clock p. December 5.

The sale will be made by J. B. Johnson, Master in Chancery. Judge Caldwell will attend 'the sale and hold a special session of court here -at that time. The reorganized company, which will buy the road, will probably be known as the Atchison, Topeka Santa Fe Railway, the only chance being in the last word, which in the present name is railroad.

The road will be turned over to the new company at once. There are several candidates for President. D. B. Robinson is regarded as the man who will probably win.

Westfall Goes to Prison. Three or four years ago E. R. West-fall, a clerk in the Pension Office, filled out some checks, left the city and attempted to pass them at Ilolton. The banker there did not cash them and Westfall disappeared and was gone a long time.

He was finally arrested in Colorado and has just been sentenced to one year in the penitentiary by Judge Foster. Prominent Catholics. A delegation of prominent Catholics, including Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop Kain and other prominent churchmen, passed through the city Monday. They were on their way to Santa Fe, N. where the consecration of Archbishop" Chappelle will take place.

-Two Quiet People Harry. Gustav Mercler and Susie Boien, both mutes, will be married at the home of the bride on West Fourth, Sunday. Marie Bishop, the little girl who ran away from the Leavenworth convent, and whose whereabouts have been unknown for some time, has turned up at her home in Leadville, Tues day, She was evidently sent from here Saturday after the court proceedings were begun. County Owes the City. City Clerk McFadden has some figures which he alleges show that the county is indebted to the city in the amount of $51,431. This is on account of back taxes.

He states that it is not probable that the city will get that amount, but that a large part of it ought to be paid. Bring In Some Good Samples. The local Million club is anxious that all material suitable for decorating the Shawnee section of the train to be sent East, be sent in at once to J. S. Collins, President.

Other counties are preparing elegant exhibits and Shawnee ought to be up with the procession. Harried Late In Life. Joshua Martin, aged 83 years, was married last week to Mrs. Kmley, aged 35 years. Mr.
