Harris C. W. Herndon, We have interviewed Frank U. Russell, and while it is too soon for an announcement, we are safe in saying that he will be in the race for the republican nomination for congress. He will make an aggress-ive campaign and in our opiniun his chance for the nomination, will be good.

Here at home Mr. Russell will un- doubtedly receive strong support-He has been particularly successful in his official career as county attorney, winning every important case for the county. He has the credit of making the first successful prosecutions in the 8tate to enforce the new wife desertion law providing penitentiary sentence, and the law forbidding the sale of diseased animals for food. He has been very diligent and successful in enforcing law in this county, to the satisfac- 1 tion of the voters as evidenced by his unanimous re-election. His ability as a campaigner is good and his writings, particularly those relating to the extension of merit system in the 'civil service of Kansas, have been widely quoted.

'His interests are diversified, be-ing owner of a farm and so interested in farming and the price of products, and president of the Citizens State Bank of Rush Center, ani so concerned about maintaining a sound business prosperity as well. The people of Rush County are unanimous in believing Frank U. Russell to be one of the square politicians of Kansas. He is a man of congressional ability, and in the opinion of the Republican, there is no man in the district who would be more active in looking after the interests of his constituents, and the country, than would he. At the present rate it is estimated that there will be a thous-and cases or more of infectious diseases in Ford county this year, unless extra precaution is taken. Each case will cost, on the average, $25, making an estimated total for the year of $25,000.00. There will probably be ten deaths caused during the year from the diseases and their complications. Will the people not cooperate with the Board of Health in attempting to save these lives and as much of this money as possible. The Board is going to start a health campaign in the county.
