There was but little in this last case to excite the sympathy felt by all of our people for the afflicted family of Walter Martin.

Anderson had been dissipated; became convinced of his own failure in life, and deliberately went to his death as a release from unsatisfactory life. He had evidently been thinking of the act for some time; as one day last week he went to Simon Barr, post carpenter, and asked him if he had any lumber to make a coffin. On Tuesday Anderson was in Ellis without leave; walking back to Hays about noon. Arriving here, he was met by several of the boys, who informed him he was wanted at the guard-house.
