From tbe Galena Eapublicaa. Hugh Ivey, living near James T. Boyd's six miles north of Neosho, met a terrible death on Wednesday morning about 9 o'clock under the following circumstances He had started with his team to haul wood with the running gears of his wagon, standing on the hounds of the wagon near the double-tree, and driving a young team. He had passed by Churchill Boyd's on the main Neosho and? Carthage road about 100 yards when lie turned his. team around, as it was, supposed, to pick up his axe which he had dropped.

In turning it is supposed the wagon became uncoupled. The front axletree turned down and he was pitched forward with his body under the. horses' heels, and his feet slipped through and caught in the hounds. The horses started in affright and dashed down the road, he attempting to pull them up, surging once or twice on the lines, but with no effect. Churchill Boyd, who witnessed the whole terrible spectacle, says as the horses plunged madly along Ivey's head was dashed repeatedly against the ground in front of the wheels and finally the body doubled under the axletree, his legs still fast in the hounds, until the team, running 200 or 300 yards, struck a sapling and cleared themselves of the front gears.

Mr. Boyd ran up and found life entirely extinct, the head being crifshed almost to a jelly. The legs were still firmly caught in the hounds, one of them broken. OM'JilO'S, KANSAS. Before Jamf-s Ssidmore.
